Gabe Terry

I wonder if we get him to roid his wrestling brains out and turn him into a pass rushing DE. If that's the case, next year would be a good chance for a RS. If he was 6' 3" 210ish as a Freshman, and he takes a redshirt next year, he could be 6' 3" 245ish the next time he steps foot on the playing field as a RS Soph. He'd still have 3 years to play. Just sayin'.

/realize our LB depth is sketchy, but I think it's something to consider

I understand what you're saying, but I feel like Golden and Co might feel he's too valuable on ST's to redshirt.

What he does on special teams should be able to be duplicated by a handful of guys next year. And, yes, he's really good on special teams, but this might get him a future career. He's got a legit frame and could leave here in 4 years as a 6' 3" 265 pound edge monster (former track guy!). Guess we'll see how his natural weight progresses. I believe he came in at 210+ after wrestling, track and without a full season of UTough. Could actually be 230+ next year. Was already being used on the edge.

Seen him in person on a couple occasions and not sure he has frame for that. Kid is lean (I'd guess sub 6% - yet muscular [no homo]) and long. Honestly, he looks like a big safety right now. I think that his max potential weight and frame-wise is in the 230s.

EDIT: Obviously, just my opinion from having seen him. Maybe he turns into a Javon Nanton type, who went from a 170 lb safety in HS to a clean 240.

He's wirey for sure right now. These next 10 months will show what kind of weight he'll be able to hold.

In don't know much about projecting what guys will turn into, but he is the most ripped freshman we have and its not even close.

When he is not busy being easy e, he wears wife beaters or a muscle shirt to class.

He looks like one of those abercrombie model types but bigger

Gabe Terry will end up being the best player on this defense by the time he leaves. Mark my words.

LMAO at gabe terry being 265

He's not far from 215ish right now. If he'd take a redshirt and wait two years, I'm not sure how that could make you laugh your *** off. Have you ever even seen him in person? While he's wirey, he has a decent-sized frame.

240/245 max

Based on what? This is a guy who wrestled at a heavier weight than Ray Lewis, for example. Ray Lewis ended up at a playing weight of 255-260 before coming down this year to 235-240. I mean, sure, you can say roids, but it is what it is...On the other hand, Ray, as an example, is 6' 0" or so. Gabe Terry is closer to 6' 3". So, no, I don't think it's crazy to consider the possibility of a 260-265 pound guy in a few years. I bet many people would have "laughed their *** off" when Andre Wadsworth went from a 200 WR to a 260 pound DE (who ended up as a top pick). Again, yes, Roids. Lots of guys do roids.

I'm not saying he'll get there. I'm saying wait 10 months to see if he gained 20 pounds. Then assess. If he's 6' 3" 235 by next August, I'd consider a redshirt and a transition to DE.
