Is working out 5 hours a day to get ready! He should instantly replace EJ. I have high hopes for this kid.

Figs has SAM on lockdown right now. How about moving Figs inside in 3-4 sets and Bond outside?

Instantly replace EJ. Man I wish! I just hope he can come in and contribute.

Kid has some serious speed on the edge, hope he can develop in pass protection.

Yeah I was wondering when I saw they want him to play Sam, why the strong side? If he's as fast as they say then I used him on the weak side for blitzing.

On a separate note I think he can come in and replace EJ pretty quick and here's why. EJ had good instincts but he ****ed up a lot too. Took bad angles sometimes and put himself in bad situations.

Figs
McCord
Bond
Thurston

I think we'll be fine at SLB

Me too. I don't get the board's panic over LB.

I could see Thurston moving over to the Will position....

my concern over LB is the fact that we only have 3 freshmen (Figs, Blue (redshirt), and Grace) and 2 sophomores (kirby and McCord) on the roster. Most of the guys that were suppose to be "future" key players at the position are kicked off the team.

I get the panic.

Figs - Freshman that has everybody excited cause he made a nice hit and earned a black jersey for spring. Understandable, but he's still a freshman and he's gonna struggle at the point-of-attack against bigger guys like TE's and OT's.

McCord - Not ready yet. Not strong enough at the point of attack.

Bond - Hasn't stepped on campus yet

Thurston - Just a guy.

I wouldn't panic but I don't think that's the ideal situation you want at Sam going into the season.

The problem I see at LB and why I think someone like Grace is so important(not good to rely on a true frosh) is I know these guys should be stout at stopping the run and getting to the QB when asked but what about coverage? McCord is too stiff and Bond only had footage of pinning his ears back and getting at the QB. I don't know about Figueroa hopefully he is that dude but it remains to be seen. Our LBs were lost in pass coverage last year, the only good news here is that EJ would have started at Sam and he was terrible in coverage anyway so maybe it can only get better. As stated Grace very well maybe our best LB in coverage the second he steps on the field. The question is will he be big enough and ready.

I wouldnt say McCord is too stiff he has a long rangy build to him which is part of the reason he is going to be a solution to our pass rushing problems... the thing about Mcord is this is his 1ST time playing LB which is why he is going to struggle. I wish the staff wouldve kept him at DE and moved Cain back to LB but i understand why they did it.

Grace has the skills to be great in coverage but Perryman and kirby (maybe Thurston and cornelius) are both good in coverage as well. Usually Sam lbs are weaker in coverage then the other lb positions. Last year Gionni Paul was by far the worst in pass coverage.
