FSU feels "quite good" about getting Thomas

FSU feels "quite good" about getting........

Devin Hester
Willie Williams
Deon Bush
Tracey Howard
etc.

Honestly, we haven't gone head to head with them alot for SFLA kids. Definitaley fought the Gators more.

Please name the DADE kids Miami has lost to FSU over the last 10 years.....

Hardly any Dade kids. They have beaten us for some Broward kids, Oleary, Parker come to mind.

That's West Palm Beach (Dwyer and Atlantic). IIRC we didn't really recruit Xavier Rhodes. Before that it was maybe Trevor Ford?

They also signed Sean Taylor's cousin (I forget his name) who had a Miami offer, but he only got that offer way late in the process and even said how he wanted to go to UM but we offered way too late. Only kids I can really think of are Patrick Robinson (did we even offer him) and Trevor Ford. Ford is the one that sticks out the most because I think he was a UM commit for a while but got flipped.

I don't think Ford was ever committed to us.
Perhaps you're thinking of Clifton ****son, who had committed early to us during summer of 2001, only to flip to f$u on the eve of
signing day.
As Matador noted in this thread, Chuck Amato used to do well in soFLa during the late 1980s/early 1990s.
Alot of that was due to Erickson and his staff not being very good at recruiting, kind of lazy, and I also think not
retaining Soldinger from JJ's staff hurt us in the southern end of Dade County, especially at Southridge HS.
Once again, as Matador noted, gayturds had some success recruiting northern Dade County, especially Carol City HS.
Alot of was due to Spurrier having Jerry Anderson on staff.
Anderson was a former HC at Carol City HS, where he coached a bunch of big-time players during the 1970s, including Lester
Williams who was arguably the biggest signee the UM fb program ever had.
Of course, it didn't hurt UM's chances with him when UM HC Lou Saban hired Anderson in addition to Joe Brodsky (HML) and
Christ Vagotis (Killian)....all three were big-time coaches in Dade County with alot of pull.
ANyways, Anderson was cut from the active coaching staff during the early1990s, I believe right around the time when coaching staffs
were required to slim down to their current number. That worked in our favor, IMO.

I said it in the summer there is a lot of pull on MT6 and FSU. Even though he prob ends up in Miami, this might go down to the wire.

I think he was referring to Anthony Leon, who was at Gulliver and went to FSU with Patrick Robinson. UM did not pursue Leon until very, very late in the process. That was the season that it seems that we didn't try to recruit Gulliver at all.

A friend that is very close to FSU and the coaching staff told me very recently that he heard directly from Jimbo that Thomas and Kirkland are silents to FSU. I know, I know. I'm just passing along what he said.

NoahZach? Canestime NoahZach? Holy **** man didn't know you joined up over here.

Any confirmation it's the same guy? Glad to have him over here, if true. Unite the clans. Unite them.

I didn't post much when NZ was active a lot(just lurked) but he was 100% quality.

+rep for "unite the clans". Outstanding.

Thanks gang. Yeah, it is me. Been here since pretty early on, but only lurking some here and there. Got real busy at work. I'll try to come around more often, though I hope to be even busier at work this year.

I was hoping it wasn't you because now I have to take that post a little more seriously. Hope you are well.

Ditto. Good to catch up here.

Take it only for what it is worth. I have virtually no doubt that he did hear something positive on Thomas and Kirkland along the lines of them being locked up for FSU, but even he acknowledged that a lot can change between now and Signing Day.

We definitely wanted ****son and, as I recall, we had him until the last moment and had to substitute in Teraz McCray when ****son bailed on us.

If memory serves, we got the better end of that deal. :)

Miami resident Clifton ****son, who was once a defensive lineman at Florida State University in Tallahassee, painted a portrait of himself then as a spoiled athlete who took things for granted. "My priorities were all wrong," said ****son, adding that he was kicked out of FSU after two years at the school, got involved in drugs, and spent 11 months in jail.

"The street is not game," ****son told the youth. "Jail is no place you want to be."

"Get your life together and talk to God every day," ****son said. "God will show you the way."

Jimbo must be drinking his own Kool-Aid or doing a lot of wishful thinking

That warm feeling FSU just mentioned?

It's warm wee wee in their pants. They finally lost control of their bladder from the long-standing nervous tension they've been experiencing.

We've had a decade long run of horrible leaders at Miami. We are just now coming out of that and trying to escape the shadows of looming sanctions, and we still rarely lose Dade kids we really WANT.

There will not be a fence around Miami in the coming years; there will be a great wall, in front of a moat, covered in tanks, anti-aircraft guns, and those ugly things from Lord of the Rings that look like Chauncy Billups.

People really underestimate both just how bad things have been here, and how competent and driven Al Golden is. Treat this **** like an ice cream cone on a hot day - get your licks in now.

+1

Our own fans barely comprehend the world class incompetence that has allowed this program to drift aimlessly for the last decade.

All the more surprising for outsiders who will eventually wake up to the fact that we are finally and mercifully on the rebound.
