The ugly truth is Miami has not recruiting well during this time in the front 7. Of the 32 front 7 commitments only 16 are actually on the roster THAT IS 50% GONE. You simply can not be successful on defense when you do not recruit well up front. The inability to retain players in the front 7 has completely eliminated the option to have competition or redshirt players. Competition is necessary because it brings out the best in players. Redshirting is extremely important when it comes to the front 7, because guys need time to build the strength needed to contribute in the trenches. Without having those luxuries Miami has been forced to play guys who have no business being on the field. I too believe the scheme sucks, but there is 0 talent or depth in the front 7 of this team.

Chickillo and Perryman are NFL players. Don't say there's no talent.

So 2 guys in the front 7 makes this unit talented lol. Not one of them would start on the successful Miami teams in the past. They both would be redshirt SO's and fighting for a spot on 2nd or 3rd team.

This doesn't excuse Dorito at all, but our front 7 is awful, simply awful. If you can't stop the run or get pressure on the QB, your defense will absolutely suck, its that simple.

In year 3, the coaching staff cannot bring in the "talent" necessary to win the weakest division in a BCS conference?

Who does that fall on? Whose job is it to develop these guys? Whose job is it to scheme to our teams strengths?

I've always thought MIAMI had enough talent to win the coastal even without Duke and Dorsett.

The bad trend here, is seeing that the most recent guys are all playing. Duke and VT are redshirting every new kid almost. We need to get that way. We dont need to be playing any kids who have just got here unless they are absolute studs. Also alot of attrition on our guys. Most of them did not make it because they just could not cut it production wise, the others fell off because of their own actions. So as Golden continues to recruit, we will eventually settle out and get back to business soon.

Chickillo, McCord, Perryman, and Kirby are all great players. Porter was wanted by UF.

If the staff can't use them correctly that's on them.

If the staff felt Armbrister was a player and brought him in, that's on them.

If they whiffed on South Carolina's leading tackler as a true freshman that wanted to be a Cane, you guessed it, that's on them.

Identifying, attaining, and cultivating talent is in the job description.

We only have 5 players on the defensive front 7 from the 2010 and 2011 classes left on the roster?

That hurts. That really hurts.

I totally agree. I know the staff had to self imposing scholarship reductions last season, but going light at LB was simply not smart. Eddie Johnson & Gionni Paul were both kicked off the team by Jan 4th, so the 2013 class needed at least 4 LB's. Letting Skai Moore (starting at South Carolina) and Michael Deeb (in 3 deep at Notre Dame) get away, falls square on AL and there is no excuse for it.

The staff has seemed to right their wrongs at font 7 recruiting this season, but this team is still a class or two away from having a championship from 7 rotation.

Strng work, looks like the 2010 and 2011 classes killed us. You always expect some attrition but that is just crazy.

Call it an excuse, but the 2010 and 2011 classes destroyed us.

Doesn't mean Dorito doesn't suck, but still.

We did! But our offense sputtered because we lost two guys that were heavily involved in the offense. That's like asking Chris Bosh to pick up the slack for James and Wade. In that scenario, Morris is Bosh, James is Duke and Dorsett is Wade.

It took some time for Coley to be the guy to replace Dorsett. However, we still do not have a great back to replace Duke though. Gus is still learning on the job. The way our offense is designed, we absolutely need a running game to compliment Morris.
