UGA was the next "closest" pro style team that "almost" beat Saban. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. But Alabama, to Saban's credit, changed his offense completely this year.

I honestly think Saban and his staff thought about what offense would they least want to face off against, and this 2018 Bama offense was born. Those post snap RPO's are lethal. They throw in tempo, they got creative in the screen game, they spread you out. Geesh.

Bama honestly runs an offense closer to a big 12 offense and Oklahoma. Which btw, put up a lot of points on.......Georgia.

You know who coached for a long time and had one of the most prolific offenses in the Big 12? Mike Leach.

The pullman pirate is killing it this year. Garnder Minshew (sounds like a #9 on a chineese take out menu) is low key one of the best passers in the country right now too. Tua will run away with the Heisman in a landslide, but Minshew is quietly putting up better number in certain areas passing wise.

The QB look off was LEGENDARY. Realize this too. Tua mechanically here is flawed. Typically QB drive foot will be in line with the throw. It is not. But it is PERFECT. DB will key on the shoulder rotation of the QB. What shoulder rotation is there? Why do you think the Safety is so flat footed. OFF PLATFORM throwing for the m-fing WIN.

Go back to that first play with Tua and you will also see a QB who make an accurate throw while not in perfect rhythm. Tua Pauses when a defender is in his way and needs to adjust and redeliver the football. Off platforming throws are something that HAS to be taught and impressed upon with a QB.

I equivocate it to Dirk Nowitski taking numerous off balance shots in order to become comfortable with it. If a QB is not accurate while not in perfect rhythm than I do not believe he can perform at a high enough level to execute. Because simply a defense has a job to do to. Their job is to tackle, make plays and disrupt your rhythm.

Perry, believe it or not, shows this trait and I have highlighted it on "From the Perch." When we have preached that Perry does things Malik simply cannot, that is not hyperbole.

Why have we run the rpo so much less than we did in previous years? Where are those quick screens on the edges we used to run all the time even with rosier ala in the 4th quarter vs ga tech to get down the field? It’s been non existent and the sh*t has been open the last 3 games for sure

I’m tired of people saying we don’t have the kids to do this. We don’t run these plays and give QBs the option. Our coach doesn’t know modern day offense. This offense is so freaking simple you are literally reading one guy and either handing it off or throwing a slant. Richt is clueless with x’s and o’s. I really haven't watched any Bama this season minus the first half of the LSU game and first quarter of the Tennessee game; but judging from the few plays broken down in this thread it seems that Bama as a second option, or possibly third, off of all their looks.

I'm sure Bama runs the counter a lot. The thing that good OCs do to keep defenses off balance is have multiple plays from the same look. So, in this instance a team overcompensates for their counter because they've seen Bama run it 100 times. So how do you keep the defense off balance? You throw in an RPO behind the counter action to keep the defense off balance. Beautiful.

That middle TE screen. I'm sure Bama has run that formation with a different play before this season to the point that LSU was keying on something different. LSU didn't at all seem prepared for the TE middle screen.

Even if you're showing the same same formations, you have to have multiple plays out of that formation to keep defenses off balance. Our offense is too predictable. It doesn't seem like we're doing anything schematically to keep defenses off balance. We have certain looks, and certain plays out of those looks, but no second or third play call options to keep a defense guessing.

The catch is you have to choose either Mark Rick or Mike Leach. Everything else on the roster is the same (like Rosier is an eighth year senior, Perry and Williams still on roster) or at least of comparable skill level to what we have now, except the OL is generally considered good (not elite but good). Diaz is still DC. HC basically has two years to figure out how to beat Bama. Do you choose Leach or Rick for your best chance at a million?

Yeah because sucking in all 3 linebackers with two pulling linemen (slant counter rpo) and leaving A HUGE HOLE my slow *** could get open in was simply because of athleticism.

Hot baths are nice but I'm too tall for my tub so I can't even enjoy those to full capacity. And I'm stone cold sober through these dark football times (also a Bucs fan) - my body rejects alcohol worse than a Miami HC rejects new ideas.

This play was so Phillip Rivers. I don't know if I've ever seen/studied this camera angle. So dope.

Great stuff as always @Roman Marciante! Really interesting to see concepts deployed by a highly successful team - even if it is Alagaga! LOL My takeaway is the adaptability employed by Sabag. No doubt, they have very talented players across the board - particularly the OL. It's almost unimaginable that as successful as they've been, they were willing to adapt and change to the available talent and be even better on offense than in the past.

Great stuff, Roman! Goes to show - we don't need a 5 second clean pocket to execute an offense. Nice design, short drop, quick throws - all key and fundamental pieces of an RPO. What we run is the opposite - slow developing, long routes, read zone. Bleh.

Not to mention perfect 4 on 4 blocking with 63 out of the job on that play.
