I know some of yall are worried about the qb spot. If kaaya is as good as he is hyped up to be he should be able to win the job.

Here numbers of a few recent true frosh qbs.

2009-matt barkley 2,275yds, 15tds, 14 ints, 59.9%

2011-teddy bridgewater 2,129yds, 14tds, 12ints, 64.5%

2013-christian hackenberg 2,995yds, 20tds, 10ints, 58.9%

2013-jared goff (cal) 3,488yds, 18tds, 10ints, 60.1%

For comparison look at morris numbers as a sr. 3,028yds, 21tds, 12ints, 57.6%.

So if kaaya can at least match what they did its about the same as what morris did as a sr. Teddy and barkley both had great soph seasons after getting that experince.

Dont let golden fool you guys into thinking a frosh or a rsfrosh cant play qb. Mariotta, manziel, winston, hundley, hogan all played well as rsfrosh.

If kaaya or olsen can live up to the hype and the defense grows some nuts this team can still win the coastal.

The best one should start period. Heaps, Kayya, Rosier, Williams, Olsen, even f*cking Crow: whoever the coaches believe at the end of fall camp will win us the most games then that individual should start. Win the Coastal and lets get the bowling ball rolling for god sake

It's definitely not the death sentence it used to be. I don't think you really WANT to go into the season with a freshman, but you can still get production with a young QB

all of these numbers are garbage except hackenberg. you never want almost the same number of ints as tis unless your qb can give you around 2000 yards rushing....period

this is where my concern lies. Past two years cannot be repeaed

If Olsen were as good as he was hyped then there wouldn't be all this discussion about the next freshman being as good as he is hyped.

In other words, the premise of your prediction is shaky at best.

There is a long history of inexperienced QBs making costly mistakes, which demonstrates that you don't want to start a true freshman at your most important position, especially right out of the gate.

And you're hoping Olsen & Kaaya match Morris's statistics despite the fact that Morris's play last season was universally criticized on here?

Freshman quaterbacks can definitely play early its not your grandfather's game or for some of you the game you came up in during high school. These kids are year round now and the ones that are commiting to play ball at major schools are being trained by professional trainers. Granted they are missing the game speed experience believe me their trainers are telling them what won't work in the high speed elite college game play creating drills to go over those things.

2329 yds, 61.5%, 15tds 13 ints...128.5 rating........ Kosar 83'

I don't know why people don't understand that every player is unique. Maybe not drastically so, but different enough that we can't expect any of them to be the same - or produce the same results.

I'm just hoping the guys we have on the roster will be good enough to have players of the future compared to them.

You can't blame Goff for Cal's terrible record though. He was a True Frosh (not a redshirt), and had probably the worst defense ther could possibly be, and an even worse DC than we do, which is hard to accomplish. then they had more injuries than pretty much any team, as well as no running game.

Not really fair since Morris was mainly criticized due to being a senior with NFL aspirations

He was criticized for not being able to hit anyone on short patterns, crossing routes, or in the seams. His entire game consisted of the long ball, which is a recipe for occasional highlights, but overall disappointment.
