He was pretty good. Good luck to him!

In light of the fact that we also do not have a practice bubble, we might as well fold the program now that Freet is gone. I blame Golden.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Chris Freet has been named Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations and Strategic Communications at the University of Arkansas it was announced by Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long on Tuesday.

Freet will join the athletic department’s senior leadership team and oversee the department’s external areas including marketing, licensing, media relations, public relations, ticket operations and the Razorback Sports Network. He will also be the department’s liaison with the new SEC Network, leading the program’s strategic engagement with the new television channel and digital platform.*

Freet joins Razorback Athletics after spending the past four years at the University of Miami where most recently he served as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Communications, Marketing and Ticket Sales.*

“I am excited to have Chris join us and lead our external team, especially at this important time of year,” Long said. “Chris is bright, intelligent and someone who works extremely well with people. *He is experienced in implementing strategies to reach our fans and I am eager to see his impact on our program.” *

At Miami, Freet was a member of the department’s executive staff where he oversaw the communications, marketing and ticket sales offices, the official website HurricaneSports.com, digital and social media platforms and all television and radio opportunities, as well as licensing and trademarks (Fermata) and the program’s relationships with Learfield Sports and IMG College. He also had direct sport oversight of the men’s tennis and women’s volleyball programs and served as the department’s liaison with university communications.

“I am beyond fortunate to make this transition during such a pivotal and exciting time for the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Southeastern Conference and intercollegiate athletics as a whole,” Freet said. “My family and I have grown and learned an incredible amount during the last four years and we cannot thank the people of Miami enough. But, the time is right to join Jeff Long’s team and we couldn’t be more excited about what the future holds.”*

Freet will officially begin at Arkansas on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Prior to his arrival in Coral Gables, Freet served for nearly three years as Assistant AD for Communications at the University of South Florida and for five years in multiple positions at the University of Oklahoma.

In addition to his duties at Miami, Freet serves on the steering committee for the SEAT Conference, marketing advisory board for InStadium and the NACMA Mentor Program. He has also taken part in the D1A Institute, NACDA Mentoring Institute, Collegiate Athletics Leadership Symposium (CALS) and is a member of the 2014-15 Sports Management Institute (SMI) class.*

Freet received his B.S. degree in Communications from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 2002.

Freet and his wife, Courtney, have one son, Dayton.

Thought Freet was solid but regardless of the career move, how could anyone get excited to move from Coral Gables, FL to any part of Arkansas yet alone Fayettville? ***** the raise and stay in Miami

He probably wasn't making enough to afford to live in the Gables.

I hope the defense improves to be top 25 in the country, and Mark D'Onofrio gets a job offer from another place that he can't refuse.
