Franklin offered at Penn State

Is everyone going to apologise if we win 10 games next year?

Depends if the CANES Defense is still giving up 500+ yards & 40 + points a game to teams with mediocre offenses. The problem wasn't Golden to begin with it was Onofrio. Now Golden is the problem because he Refuses to change his scheme & fire his DC. If Miami didn't have FAU & Savannah State on the Schedule this year the CANES might have only won 7 games. Think about that for a minute & get back to me

That's a dumb argument. If we didn't have duke, vt, and fsu on our schedule we would have been playing for the national title. Think about that and get back to me.

Franklin seems to want to climb ladder. I think he takes it. But I still think the wanted Al. PSU is a nesting type of place. Al is a nester; Franlin not so much. I believe MArk was the roadblock -- PSU wanted no part of him and Al would not cut him loose.

PSU leaked this for a reason.

They will not do this unless Franklin already pretty much accepted. Otherwise if Franklin declines, the next person up has more leverage.

SO. my guess

Golden was discussed, interview went very well, #'s were discussed, but PSU wanted to interview everyone first and Golden could not wait all this time so he backed out and not lose his current job & not get the new one.

Sounds about right

Yeah. Pretty much. I think PSU is probably more than a bit of a clusterf@ck when it comes to hiring people when it comes to football given what has happened there. I think the search committee people shook Al's hand but somebody raised concerns about something, other candidates were offered interviews and Al couldn't wait. I'll say one thing, in this situation nothing is certain until somebody signs their name to a piece of paper. So it ain't over 'til it's over.

And if Al doesn't go, he's got to get his mind right. He's got to win people back, and people aren't in a mood to by what he's selling this time around. Wining cures all, I suppose....

I hope Franklin turns them down for no other reason than I want to watch the meltdown on their board. I hate those arrogant ****ers so much it would MAKE. MY. DAY.

I think Franklin stays in Nashville. He's the king there. Good jobs come up every year, Florida and Michigan could be up next year. Penn State because of its problems isn't as good of a job as it would be otherwise. The other thing is that they will likely want to lock him in with a huge buyout. 51/49, he stays at Vandy.

I guess there is something admirable about that level of loyalty.

It's THIRD in the Coastal, and a distant third at that, that should concern people here.

This "10 win" stuff doesn't mean much in light of that. Play in a crappy enough Bowl game, and I'm sure Golden will eventually win 10 games, during a season where we play 4 AWFUL OOC games like this year, AND the Coastal is as bad as it was in 2013 (which is definately a possibility every year)

Franklin leaked that ****. I can't imagine a guy whose stock is as high his wanting to jump into that toilet, especially not being a Pedterno guy.

Franklin is going to milk this for all its worth. Keep hope alive.

Franklin to PSU makes no sense whatsoever.

The money offered is not that much different than Vandy, no bowl games for 2 years, serious scholarship reductions and a below average current roster.

I think he is using PSU to get as much as he can out of Vandy. SEC teams don't let their coaches get away.

Franklin's agent is Jimmy Sexton (reps Jimbo Fisher, Nick Saban and Gus Malzahn). Sexton is playing PSU like a flute IMO.

You would have seen happy Al on Monday if he turned down the job.

Instead, you saw sad Al because PSU left him at the alter.

Isn't it easier academically to get into Penn state? If so, maybe franklin thinks he can get bigger recruits on a regular basis at Penn st than he would at vandy

EXACTLY. Al didn't turn **** down. My hope is that they'll get embarrassed by Franklin and panic in order to save face. Enter Fatman!

It would be a retarded move unless he thinks his roster at Vandy is **** this year and that he will lose more games. Get your raise from Vandy, give an emotional press conference where Vandy fans and recruits rally around you, and then take a better gig next year.

Tenn Titans job is still available. They get a good look at the local guy on a daily basis
