Former Yankee draft pick to walk on as QB....

and we told that dingbat from UF last week that we had no room for him? i guess it would be that we had no scholarships for him since this kid in a walk on. what's the upside here?

Uh... Becuse he's a walk on? You get a guy who can help on the scout team, help receivers with reps, maybe even compete and push other players. All for free.

You need walk ons to properly operate camp.

I picture all these dudes all sitting in the library at UM smoking pipes occasionally looking up from their respective copies of The Daily Telegraph to remark on the downward trend of world affairs.

28th round draft pick receiving a $675,000 signing bonus? Did I read that right?

28th round draft pick? If true that's unheard of cheddar for that slot IMO.

If he can help the team great. I wonder why he just didn't decide to walk on at UNC? Fug it.

He was projected much higher but teams backed off because they felt he was going to UNC. Yanks made a power play.

Thompson was drafted by the Yankees with the 1177th overall pick. The new MLB collective bargaining agreement restructured the rules for the amateur draft, essentially taking away the ability for teams with deep pockets like the Yanks and Red Sox to give early round money to guys who slip due to signability concerns. IOW, the Garrison Lassiter's of the world will be taking their talents to college more often now.
 
Played against him in High School. At Two highschools actually. When he played for ledford and west forsyth.

That said, great athlete, but not UM material. Will be a scout team QB
