Forgot to ask this earlier, what was the best/worst games..

I think the worst were Notre Dame and K-State...they were two of the elite teams in college football this year and Miami just got destroyed by both...it gave me a glimpse at how far away we were this year. You don't just make up 40+ point losses in a year or by season's end.

maybe its the orange and green glasses but it seemed to me that we did everything possible to help ND. didnt really seem like we were that far away from them.

now KSU oth, I remember thinking that they looked waaay better than us and that we had a long way to go.

ND ran the ball like 30 times in a row at one point. They exposed us in the trenches almost as much as K-State did.

Those games...no hope. Notre Dame was close for a half, but it was inevitable they would dash out in front. They just destroyed our will from the inside out. Was a torturous death.

I don't take either of those games as very telling of anything we didn't already know before. They mauled us along the lines and it would have been strange to expect otherwise. I was hoping we'd catch some positive data points from the games, like Virginia, that were actually available for the taking.

If was very different to feel going into the game thinking "we don't have a chance" and then to see how these two Top 5 teams just tore us up. K-State put me out of my misery early. Notre Dame kept me alive to see my loved ones die and then gave me the ol papoose-to-go.

Games like UVa and FSU, that were there for the taking at some point...I mean, I figured going into the season we'd have games that the lord giveth and then take away...NCSU and GT were the giveth and the UVA game in particular, he'd take away. I can live with those when I know their coming. But just knowing we had no shot against the elite made Baby Jesus cry.

They exposed "us" in the trenches because they had a lead and just wore Miami down. If Miami hits one of the two drops early, I think it's a much different ballgame, point is I think Miami could have given them a good run.
I can point to key things in Miami biggest three losses, ND, K St. & FSU that killed their chances, which to me, is a sign of a team on the upswing.

Actually, I think in today's world in college football and just about everywhere else, I think you can make up 40+ points, especially given how young and talented we are across the board. I'm legitimately excited for next year.

Boston College was the best for me. By far. An opener carries so much uncertainty. We needed that win to provide optimism toward a winning season, and benefit of a doubt toward Golden. Just imagine what boards like this would have looked like, if we lose to Boston College then the Kansas State game unfolds similarly. Before the season the Kansas State and Notre Dame games looked like muggings so we desperately needed to flank them with soundproofing material.

It seems like everyone takes wins for granted, after the fact, and bemoans tight losses like Virginia and North Carolina. Meanwhile, we didn't threaten to stop Boston College unless they helped us out. It was wide open spaces for their offense all day long. If they don't throw it smack to Perryman's chest when we trail 14-0 I'm not sure it's even a competitive game. Then several times we turned their big plays into turnovers by ripping the ball away. I thought that game was fortunate all the way around.

Besides, Boston College had handled us in both teams' most recent game. That carries weight. They were confident. Against Georgia Tech we always seem to find a way so I was never convinced it wouldn't happen again.

Also, Duke Johnson was so phenomenal against Boston College I knew we really had something. Beyond the clippings. I'm glad my dad was alive to see that game. He died in October, after watching Canes football for more than 60 years.

Great post man. So sorry for your loss

ND and KSU were blowouts because we couldn't stop them. Point blank.

In simpleton terms.

In anyone's terms.

Sure it would have been nice if Dorsett didn't try to spike a volleyball Gaylord Fawker style every time Morris threw him the ball against Notre Dame. But ND and KSU had their way with our defense and nothing, and I mean nothing, was going to stop that from happening.
