For some reason, these 2 caught my eye last night...

How about our so called OL? Supposedly the strength of the team, continues to not run block and protect the QB. There are a couple of NFL players there, so it isn't talent.
We faced 4 legit D-lines this year. UF, FSU, VT, and UL....and by legit I mean at least half-way decent. The rest we faced all sucked except for 1 guy (like Pitt). Our OL was dominated in every way imaginable in all 4 games.

Agreed. Still, even against inferior DL's, the OL never lived up to expectations. Our timing is always off, we do not create a push on the line, and there is constant miscommunication.

Gus is a good back. Great feet for a guy his size, but the problem is he's running like a 180 lb. RB, not a 225 lb RB. He needs to lower his pad level and deliver the boom when when making contact to use his weight and leverage to fight for extra yards instead of staying upright. Hopefully he does learn that.

Jenkins, I fear may be a victim of our bad recruiting. He showed a lot last year when he was fighting for playing time. This year, he was our de facto best Safety. With Bush hurt, he could go half speed and still be better than Rogers and Highsmith. There was no motivation for him. Hopefully that happens next year, but I'm scared that Carter is not that guy. The fact Carter couldn't jump Rogers or Highsmith on the depth chart all year is concerning (as is Grace not getting on the field over Armbrister/Cornelius).

To be fair, that offensive line is way the **** over rated, they sucked big time last night... Offensive and Defensive lines win games... Said that for years...
And not in a good way. Rayshawn Jenkins and Gus Edwards.

Jenkins was taking some bad angles out there last night. I hope this dude doesn't take the Telemaque career path of annual regression. We've had such a string of bad safeties, I really wanted him to be the guy, but he has me worried.

Sorry to all the Gus Bus riders but this guy just isn't a good rb. Rb is one of those positions where you can generally tell if a guy has it or not. He doesn't have it. Doesn't like natural running the ball at all. You can just see all these little opportunities during runs where he can pick up extra yardage with the right vision and instincts and he seems to miss out time and time again. To be fair, he's not terrible. It's just clear he's never going to be really good. He could maybe be a good situational power runner, but even in that area he needs a lot of work as he runs too upright.

Jenkins is an awful safety. Folks on this board grossly overrate the talent level of this kid. Hester or Carter will be starting next to Bush next year.

Yup, the thing that does stand out for Jenkins though as a positive is that he has a lot of range, so on the surface he looks alright. Still early for him though....

Gus is just average. Not great, not horrible either.

Earlier in the year when he looked good it was because we were playing horrible teams. He hasn't had a memorable play against any good team that we've faced.

I'd say move him to fullback but he's not that physical.

Ted, I understand what your saying! There were 3 runs where Gus should have had at least 12-15 yards each. He didn't explode into the second level and break arm tackles. His instincts and vision forced him right back into the pursuit.

Unfortunately we won't be restocking the RB cupboard anytime soon. We keep missing on almost every elite RB down here. And then children on the recruiting board have the balls to say that our RB depth is fine. LMAO.

Gus will be an ok back, but he needs to hit the weight room and eventually move to fulback, but I'm not sure he is suited for that. Someone called him a finesse back with a tall built body and I'm afraid that's what he is.

Jenkins.... boy, he takes some bad angles, is he learning from Highsmith?

It's not Gus fault these coaches missed on Collins. You land Collins, and there is no drop off in elite talent. Gus needed to be red shirted, and given time to fix his flaws.
