And not in a good way. Rayshawn Jenkins and Gus Edwards.

Jenkins was taking some bad angles out there last night. I hope this dude doesn't take the Telemaque career path of annual regression. We've had such a string of bad safeties, I really wanted him to be the guy, but he has me worried.

Sorry to all the Gus Bus riders but this guy just isn't a good rb. Rb is one of those positions where you can generally tell if a guy has it or not. He doesn't have it. Doesn't like natural running the ball at all. You can just see all these little opportunities during runs where he can pick up extra yardage with the right vision and instincts and he seems to miss out time and time again. To be fair, he's not terrible. It's just clear he's never going to be really good. He could maybe be a good situational power runner, but even in that area he needs a lot of work as he runs too upright.

Gus did have one run were he did lower the boom...

First time I'd seen it all season

RJ I agree I was hoping to see more solid play from a kid whose played all season as a starter... We'll find out next year if it's clicked or he needs his job taken

Agree that Jenkins seemed to regress over the course of the season.

Still feel his can be a help here, he needs ton learn to run lower all the time.

yea, not a big Gus fan either, and I believe Al feels the same way. That's why the full court press on Dalvin Cook. We need that cat.

I thought Gus played well. If you are going to pick out players, picking him out is wrong.

there was a run last night where Gus burst through the line- had the appearance of 13, 14 yard run, somehow, he only gained 6. Poor vision

Still have hope for Gus. Not off the charts, but feel he developed a bit as the season went on. Offensive line play isn't do him or the other backs any favors . . . Duke was fighting for every yard even before he got hurt. Telltale evaluation is next year for Gus with the hopefully healthy return of Duke, return of Crawford and arrivals of Yearby and Powell. Will be pushed if he wants to get significant carries.

gus is not in league of duke, yearby and powell. he is not that fast, better suited for a fullback spot. dallas is a good kid but cant find hole.

jenkins is in first year as starter, he is up and down. in contrast, kacy and aj are only down. i think carter will emerge and push him hard.

In the Washington v BYU game Washington had a small back (yearby size) who led the Pac 10 in rushing, Yearby runs the same way and his cuts might even be better, can't remember his name, but Yearby IMO is going to be a very special back.

Yes! That's exactly what I'm talking about. I know that our rbs get clobbered in the backfield and that's not their fault. But it's on plays like this where you can evaluate a guy.

3fw, gus played alright. Not singling him out because he was our worst player or something. Long list of guys that played worse than him, but we've all talked about the oline, morris, and the defense from every possible angle. Hadn't seen these guys really discussed.

He's just commenting on an accurate observation. Does not get a lot of downhill power push for a big guy with ok feet.

He just looks mediocre.

Sankey. Love watching him run. Kind of reminds me of Portis. I also like watching Hubert for KState. These are the type of cats that turn 2 yard runs into 6 yard runs.

Not gonna knock Gus. In a perfect world, he should have been red-shirted. Just not ready for that much responsibility.

RJ will be judged by whether he takes that next leap next year. He has some skills. He should be good to go as a junior. If not, we need to give someone else a shot.

Gus has no feel for the position at all. He runs very soft for his size. I've never seen a kid that big be stonewalled and stood up so many times.

No vision or instincts as a runner.

With gus n crawford, any rb we recruit will be a luxury to have on roster...

Que the jordan gif...

Jenkins is an awful safety. Folks on this board grossly overrate the talent level of this kid. Hester or Carter will be starting next to Bush next year.

Jenkins and Edwards are both talented. Jenkins didn't play great last night and neither did Edwards. No reason to give up on either yet though.

How about our so called OL? Supposedly the strength of the team, continues to not run block and protect the QB. There are a couple of NFL players there, so it isn't talent.
