Florida State's Class is Average At Best.....

Then after you factor in the simple truth that south FL has the most talented players in the nation per capita..

this is changing, imo. Don't get me wrong there is still plenty talent but South Florida is not what it once was. just look at belle glade as a microcosm. Still some talent and good football players to be found but not nearly what it was only several years ago.

the perception is still there...and there is still some truth to the perception...but i don't think it is what it once was.

doesn't mississippi now hold that title? pretty sure i read that somewhere recently that they produce the most nfl players per capita. unless we're talking amount of d-1 kids signed each year per capita, if that's the case i think south florida and more specifically miami-dade still lead there. idk though, been a while since i saw it.

I cant find any recent articles, most i found are from 2004-2009

I do know that Georgia is coming up strong.

Last year florida (as a whole) had something like 321 D-1 prospects sign. Florida population is ~19 million

Georgia had 178 D-1 prospects sign. Georgia population is ~9 million

Georgia also has better HS coaching. Most of the decent coaches in florida move to georgia because there is more $$

This is a good statistic, but what is the saying about statistics and lies?

The proof really is in the eye test of teams that South Florida cranks out. I mean in one division you have BTW, MNW, Homestead, and Central right? These are teams that could line up across some teams from LA and Georgia without ANY coach on the sidelines and just have their way with them on athleticism alone. Just look around the country at the South Florida skill players that are doing their thing at other programs because the big three didn't want them. I think coaching at the High school level is over rated. Just get me someone that can instill fundamentals, and let the talented kids do their thing. That's why you see kid's like Dalvin Cook, and Artie Burns lining up at multiple positions. Coaches down here aren't stupid, just teach the kids the technique needed to not hurt themselves and get out of their way.

I'd be willing to bet if you if you said African American NFL players per capita Florida would be number one or close to it. There's millions of hispanics in Florida who generally don't play football or are great football players. Georgia is about 30% black, Mississippi 36% Alabama 26%, while Florida is 17%.

that is cute but not true. Some years yes, and some years you could say that about several top programs in Georgia, La, Texas, etc

have you seen some of the HS played in Houston? Great athletes and more often than not great coaching.

for example

Central lost to Grayson, GA this year 35-3

BTW went out of state and beat Cedar Hill, Tx 40-21

none of the other schools you mentioned played anyone out of state

It is, just in different areas. Belle Glade hasn't had good talent in a few years, but now schools like Northeast, American Heritage, and University School have elite players.

Palm Beach county (not including belle glade) seems to be doing better as well

The muck is not a good example. What's been happening there from my understanding in terms of the immediate economic situation is really affecting their population. SFL's two main reasons why we see a ton of NFL players produced are still there: population + weather. The Muck has taken a hard hit and to my mind, that's why we're seeing a bit of decline around that region.

Formula remains the same: keep the best South Florida guys home and cherry pick from other areas, and then develop them on campus, and you will do just fine. We have been missing the second piece for too long, and as of late, the first part too.

i think we are seeing in that in south florida as well (population shift)..black population in miami-dade is projected to keep shrinking. Of course, Broward's black population is growing.

Their class, and ours, hinges on 4 names: Collins, Thomas, Bryant, and Coley. All could go to either school.

sucks for fsu that all these guys are south florida guys. FSU knows that the key to their success is south florida and they are witnessing their worst nightmare. Their top recruiters gone, their best shot at a title gone bc they blew it AGAIN. We are going to FAP all over their faces on and off the fields when we get these guys!
