Batting average isn't even something I look at. So much variance.Wasn’t he hitting around .350 for much of the 2019 season? But also feel like he hasn’t had a hit since 2019
Have you seen how we've fared against their bullpen over the years? We just need to focus on getting our heads out of our asses in big spots. If nothing else we need to work the count this inning. O’Sullivan isn’t known for pushing the pitch count, especially early in the season.
College baseball strike zones will drive you nuts. This strike zone is wild...seems like he's giving both teams the outside but now you ring a guy up way inside when the pitch never had the plate...
You’re right in everything you said but you gotta be doing something right at some point to hit .350 for 3/4 of the season and he looks pretty much unplayable at this pointBatting average isn't even something I look at. So much variance.
If you walk, control the count, hit the ball hard from an exit velocity standpoint, and make lots of contact, the other stuff takes care of itself.
Batting average is so dependent on variance that it can skew things. If you are dribbling ground balls up the middle for hits and dunking balls in front of fielders, you aren't going to sustain that. It will regress and even out.
Much like pitchers can't control anything after the pitch is thrown, a hitter can't control anything after contact. I'd rather have a hitter hit one 105 mph right at a fielder than a guy hit an 8-hopper between SS/3B. The 105 will result in production far more often than the 8-hopper all things being equal.
Any idea how many pitches he's at? Had pretty good at bats early on, but they've looked worse as we've gotten into the game and the pressure has increased.Left two runs out there because of baserunning, now Mace is settling in - ugh.
We aren’t scoring on Mace the way he’s settled in post 3rd. You get into the bullpen earlier and increase the chance someone is a little off on opening weekend. If nothing else you get an early look at an arm before facing them again later in the weekend.Have you seen how we've fared against their bullpen over the years? Or, teams just realized a slider a foot off the plate is catnip to him. You’re right in everything you said but you gotta be doing something right at some point to hit .350 for 3/4 of the season and he looks pretty much unplayable at this point
No doubt that Mace has settled in. Miami really can only blame themselves (for like the 10th time in the past several years). We aren’t scoring on Mace the way he’s settled in post 3rd. And $EC strike zones in Canesville will drive you to drink heavy.College baseball strike zones will drive you nuts.
