For whatever the reason, a lot of 2024 recruits committed elsewhere because they were unsure if the program was/is headed in the right direction. Mario's strategy for getting an elite class is to prove on the field that change is happening and then flip them. Definitely a high risk, high reward proposition as flipping is never guaranteed and the odds aren't great.
Seen discussion on various threads of recruits that could/might be flipped with a good season.

I didn't forget about these names. I don't think they're flippable or I don't think we'll try to flip them.
CB recruiting remains a mystery. Gaby said
Given that we know we're trying to flip a major CB target, these are names that should be candidates that we're trying to flip, but as of now, no public indication we're trying to flip them.

Recruit | Position | School | Recruitment Status |
DT | OK | Entire family expected him to be a Cane before he pulled out an OK hat
DT | OK | Not sure what happened here cause he was all UM at one point and we didn't finish in the top 2.
DT | CO | Flo said watch for a flip of the Colorado DT (but that was just before the season)
DE | USCe | Unclear who finished #2 and #3 here.
DE | Ole Miss | Grandma wanted him in Mississippi
DE | Auburn | We were in the final 5, IDK where in the list we ended up.

LB | Gators | Reportedly the #1 LB on our board
CB | UGA | D$ says if we have a good season, we could be cooking with fire here.
S | Bama | Flipped from F$U to Bama. D$ says Miami hasn't given up
S | Maryland | Close friends/teammate of Markeith Williams. We mysteriously stopped recruiting him agressively but talks have picked up and he visted for the TAMU game
S | Rutgers | Visited for TAMU game after public communication seemed to stop
WR | TAMU | Think we actually finished 3rd in this recruitment
WR | O$U | Lots of smoke about Hartline's future

WR/CB | Noles | Long rumored to flip, nothing has materialized so far
WR | Gators | D$ mentioned him as a potential flip candidate (IMHO he's bag chaser with lesser skills than other WR on the flip board)
RB | O$U | Visited for A&M, some rumors swirling.
TE | OK | Supposedly 50/50 until the end
TE | Gators | Not sure where we stand here
TE | Michigan | We have a long track record of flipping kids from Michigan and several people have said watch this recruitment
IOL | TAMU | We were in the final two and beat down TAMU. |
I didn't forget about these names. I don't think they're flippable or I don't think we'll try to flip them.
Recruit | Position | School | Recruitment Status |
C | Bama | Dropped us like a stone the moment he got the Bama offer

[Beyond Ellis Robinson IV, there is a] Major blue chip name Miami is working to flip

CB | L$U | @Memnon expects L$U to have significant issues this season which could open the door here.
CB | Oregon | His teammate 25 4* CB Kevyn “Kerm” Humes is visiting. Maybe that opens a window?
CB | Gators | Putting him here because it makes sense. So far, no signs the staff agree with us.
CB | PSU | Visited earlier in the year and the Canes were thought to have momentum. |
