Fletcher is not hurt

Don’t know about you all but there is something about Fletcher that is different post injury. To me, he’s leaner, stronger, quicker, faster. Has anyone else seen this ?
He is the best RB we currently have on the team. Yes, to all the know it alls on this board, I said it. No offense to Martinez who is still great and maybe in time I will look at Lyle and reassess my statement as he is showing some early signs of greatness.
Having Martinez though will allow the team to not run Fletch into the ground before we get to December and the games that we have worked for 3 years to be ready for.
Again, Martinez is no average back and will definitely have better games this season and play in the league but Fletch just runs different when the ball is in his hands.

Those all are connected. He’s leaner , which means he’s quicker, faster and more explosive. Looks more flexible too. He reminds me of Leveon Bell some in the pass game.

Just a couple weeks ago against Florida we had posters saying he was plodding and slow.. I said on that swing pass he looked fast and got the edge in space..

Most really don't know what to look for til it hit them in head like a drum lol

He is a stud football player. Also a great pass protector with the potential to be elite there.
Thoughts on OP saying he’s > than Martinez?

Were our expectations too high on DM? Has he just not had enough time yet? Run blocking not helping him out?

I'm the SPEEEEEEEEEEEEED guy as much as any but dude is 6'2 230.. he don't need to be sub 10 to be considered explosive.. at his size he is moving and a problem for most teams..

I feel like I been saying that since we recruited him (check the threads).. when I saw thad play and he was getting hyped I said he got mud feet.. I thought Fletcher was the same til I really watched his film.. much different..

Can't have same speed standards for someone who is 6'2.. different dynamic

Yeah both can be true. Martinez could be the better back, but Fletcher is playing better right now

Hopefully a very long season for us and having those two guys stay fresh would be great

Which I think had a lot to do with why he got most of the reps after Cooper got hurt. We had 3 backup OL in with the first team and there were times he had to bail Lou, etc. out in pass pro.

I think it was either Miami OH or Temple last year, Temple I think. Fletcher had a TD run called back he had embarrassed a safety in the middle of the field with just one little step. A RB that big doesn’t need much wiggle to break a big play if the defender is worried about getting run over

Yep. A bigger rb already has one thing working in his favor “ he’s big “ and defenders don’t want that smoke in the open field. Look at the move he made yesterday and the move against UF. Just a studder step fake inside and he was able to get to the outside. Because the defender was already thinking “ how am I attacking this big **** in space “?

Long season. He will be fine. He has a track record.
I think that's the easy answer to give DMoney. But, it's fair to compare his tape from Oregon State to Miami and begin to wonder if he's better suited for running from a single-back formation like he did his Sophmore season.

He's not carrying the same speed as he hits the line of scrimmage as we saw in his Oregon State highlights. I find he's trying to create running lanes more than he is attacking them.

He has good feet. But he's still at his best as a downhill runner.

Worst part, WE ALL KNEW THIS GOING IN..

He wasnt here for spring and he played in a under center down hill run game. WE knew it would take some time to adjust to running out of shotgun.. Fletcher played in scheme and probably more comfortable..

Weird how our fans want to toss both Martinez and Brown after a couple games when its a long 16 game season.. Let these boys settle in and get right.. Both werent here for spring and got in late, we would hope both plug and play but growing pains can happen.
