@Tad Footeball you make a good argument but when has anything "nationally" benefited Miami? It's the same as insurance in different states. My opinion is to keep it within the states and it's elected representatives. That will take the power away from people in other states who don't have our best interestFederalism is actually what makes our country great. Your argument feels good to espouse as on the surface it appears to be based on maximum "freedom" and local level "wisdom" but in an instance like this it swings the pendulum entirely too far toward states' rights and sacrifices what verrrrry little remains of any competitive balance integrity in college sports.
If you were talking rules about high school athletics then I'm 100% in your corner. But when you're talking a mishmash of public and private universities that belong to athletic conferences that span many states and (for now) a national governing body then we need some semblance of a universal standard on this front.
