Fernando Mendoza

Idk. After reading CIS QB evals, no QBs getting drafted next year

CIS every opposing team’s game thread: they’re all cheeks

Top QBs on the Board:
- Cam
- Rumored name, if unsaid name comes to Miami
- Not Mendoza after committing to IU
- Emory
- Rumored name, if unsaid name does not come to Miami

I just don’t think anyone here can truly say Emory is good or bad.

The only ones that can are Dawson and co. They watched him everyday for a year and developed him. He sat and learned behind Cam, the undisputed top quarterback in college. Right, wrong, or indifferent, it’s kinda the hard truth. You can’t judge him from freshman year when he never should have played.

I think it’s telling we didn’t pursue any quarterback here (outside of the pipe dream for Mateer). So staff clearly thinks Emory > Mendoza.

This year has proved that roster is more important than the QB (98% of the time). I’m just at a point that they feel comfortable with Emory. If they go after any other quarterback, they feel he is the best quarterback out there.

That’s their decision and they just delivered the best offense in college football this year. We will see

There is absolutely no way you watched Mendoza play this year and thought "we need him to be our starting QB next year or all is lost".

Sooner or later we were going to have to start playing our younger QB recruits. Unless there was a clear cut playoff caliber QB that was coming in the portal spend the money upgrading the defense.

The roster is not more important than the QB and it never has been.

Emory isn’t the answer to year 4 under Mario. The floor has now been set at 9-10 wins and that is where we were with the “undisputed top QB in college football” now where do you think Emory stands in those rankings.

Don’t be gullible, we are absolutely in the market for a QB.

You clearly didn’t comprehend anything I said

You clearly can’t read between the lines, they are not comfortable with Emory.

Then who have they pursued, outside of the pipe dream of the number 1 quarterback. And I never said they aren’t pursuing a QB. They are clearly very selective based on how they perceive Emory which is evident so far from their QB pursuit.

I couldn't shake off the 44 sacks and 2.5 seconds to throw average.

Thats a scary bad statistic.

I'm hopeful we pull one of the qbs that haven't hit the portal.

Leavitt, dream scenario.

Ewers, let's ride.

Beck, fine...

Avery Johnson, high potential and would be exciting. Needs work tho and is risky, but I dont mind him competing with Emory.

We are playing ND first game of the year next year, right? They have had best pass defense in college football last 2 years (#1 in EPA/dropback in '23 & '24 - I'm a nerd lol). I assume we'd like to have a chance to win the game. There is no freaking way we are starting Emory or Nickel in that game. We will get a QB in the portal some how, some way. That QB will start against ND.
