While I understand the comments about FAU's difficulty in getting name candidates, and the perception we have of the school, the reality is that it has become the "chic" cause in Palm Beach county, and a lot of very wealthy people have donated a lot of money to the school. In other words, they actually have a war chest.

I find it remarkably hard to believe Pelini was axed for attending an event at which pot was being smoked.

I would not find it hard to believe, on the other hand, that Pelini agreed to resign (and take the big $0 that comes with resigning) in exchange for a carefully worded statement from FAU.

Pelini lit up, got caught, and agreed to resign in exchange for the "he did not inhale" defense. That's what my money is on.
