McMurphyESPN: Carl Pelini has resigned at FAU a source told @ESPN. Pelini's resignation is effective immediately

Tough days for the Pelini brothers. The angry, combustible clown in Lincoln probably isn't long for his job, either.

Does this resignation feel sketchy to anyone else? FAU isn't in bad shape at the moment, their record is bad, but they've played almost every one close besides Miami and Auburn.

Pretty sure this Pelini got the **** out of dodge in Nebraska when they found out he was banging the wife of a booster on the side, so the history is certainly there.

No coach with any big time aspirations takes that job. It's a f*cking commuter school in Boca Raton.

I'm sure there are a thousand guys out there that would love to take a D1 head coaching job in South Florida on a campus with a brand new stadium.

Any young coach would kill to take that job if he's looking to start his career. Pelini was just a bizarre hire from the get go, they need someone who has some sort of south Florida ties to get in there.

SB Nation Recruiting @SBNRecruiting

So does FAU call Eddie Gran? James Coley? Has to be someone who knows SoFla and can get more talent.

Caneshow nice direct quote from the Feldman tweet! Pelini was a joke the whole time, almost as bad as the Ron Turner abomination at FIU. If they even considered Cristobal it would turn into even more of a freakshow.

Depends on what you mean by start his career. Coordinators at major programs -- those with aspirations to be the head man at a top 25 program -- don't take that job. Like FIU, it's for has-beens (e.g., Turner), castaways (e.g., Randy), or very young position coaches trying to skip the coordinator level (e.g., Cristobal at FIU).

HAS to be a young coach who is either from South Florida, coached in South Florida or played in South Florida at some point. So yeah basically a Mario Cristobal type. They should be able to sell that school to kids down here on some level. Playing time, new building, good campus. At least enough to field a team that's capable of winning a bowl game or two and getting you another job at a bigger program.
