Fans Of Other Teams - A Story Of Nerds

I fully endorse punching obnoxious opposing fans in the face. Teach them to respect our house. Of course, I'm always going out of my way to teach, so I don't expect those of you who are less civically inclined to take the time out of your schedules to teach.

GT fan's image of us on our way to the game

I'm **** near albino, and I had zero issue coming to home games. Of course, I am wearing orange/green and not the opposing colors. If I had kids, I wouldn't be worried about bringing them to Sun Life to tailgate and watch a game.

I mainly go to road games, just because of my geographic location (VA), and it's fun to me to go into enemy territory and take the razzing and abuse. There are a few times where it's crossed the line, but I love walking into a stadium or out on a Friday night before the game, wearing my colors, and getting those dirty looks and stupid zingers just because I'm repping my team. I revel in it. It doesn't feel right if I don't have someone giving me dirty looks and giving me ****. People hate and disrespect on the Canes EVERYWHERE...and I expect that kind of treatment.

However--there have been a few times where razzing has turned into some good opportunities to meet opposing fans, who, at the end of the day, are ordinary folks like most of us are. As long as you take it well, and there's no major vitriol or intent to harm behind the trash talk, there are actually some cool folks out there that are NOT Canes fans. And you can meet them, get along with them, and even share some drinks along with friendly conversations about the game at hand.

I have enjoyed great hospitality, including food and drinks, from opponent's fans at Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Clemson both before and after wins and losses.

The colors on the shirts of the fan who blocked my view of the game at NC may have been different than the guy at JRS or the OB but they acted obnoxiously and inconsiderately the same. If you've ever purchased air travel, hotels, and rental cars and ended up behind this guy you know what I mean.

Always amazes me, and honestly, every year the Georgia Tech fans are the worst. What a whinny bunch they are. They think Miami is a horrible academic institution and our fans are all drunken criminals who only come to the games to fight. We have very good friends who are Bull Gators who would never come with us to a game in the Orange Bowl because they were afraid of Little Havana, and I thought they would at least come to this years game at Sun Life, but they backed out of that one too.

Why are you still friends with them? Why did you become friends with them in the first place? My mother is a UF alum. I don't talk to her.

I feel opposing fans don't need to be to comfortable.

I apologize, but this is a terrible thought process. Unless you think we can sellout every game by ourselves (we can't), then it is imperative that opposing fans feel comfortable coming to games. Now, they should not feel comfortable about the chances of success for their team, but there is zero reason a fan should feel uncomfortable attending a game.

Ah..unfortunately I was at the 45-17 drubbing that FSU put on us in 2010, but what really stood out to me was the Nole douche a few rows down from me in the lower bowl that was turning around and waving the Miami fans in the next stands up to come down there to face him. This ****** was waving up an entire section like he could take them all on because his team just beat our teams ***.

Also, Tech fans last year were gloating in the stands like they had the game wrapped up and were talking so much ****. They kept playing Gangnam-Style over the loudspeaker. I said "if we come back I'm Gangnam Styling all the way back to the truck". I did.

I have always had a good experience with Clemson fans, but this year when I was at the UGA-Clemson game there were some pretty big Clemson ******** in the stands. One particularly big Kango hat wearing guido douche*** who was flicking off something every time they scored, and would yell at the field (from the top deck) whenever a Georgia player would be "hurt". Basically screaming profanities at no body in particular.

Moral of the story, success breads **** head fans and I think college football fans in general (particularly the ones there without kids) are all complete ********. Safe bet to take when you buy the tickets. Might as well go into the game expecting to spit it right back, and be pleasantly surprised when it is a friendly atmosphere.

Tech's gameday atmosphere is pretty tame and family friendly overall, which is why they freak out when coming to Miami. Its not like you can take most of my fellow Tech alums to the Carol City flea market down the street from Sun Life to get faded up and pick up some new 12"s for the trunk. I know this because I tried.

Always used to laugh when FSU fans would say they were scared walking from their cars to the OB. What the ****. Like a bunch of 60 year old 5-4 Cubans and Nicaraguans trying to park your car or sell you rat on a stick are going to jump your ***, kidnap you and sell into slavery in El Salvador.

Like, "No blockie" was code for, "Carlos, rev up the van, we've got some gringos, we head for the border at dawn." Dumbass ****ing rednecks.

85...that no blockie **** is the funniest thing i have read on this board in a long time. LMAO at Carlos rev up the van...

intimidation is a huge part of home field advantage. IDGAF what Ga Tech Fans think about the U. Its the locals that matter because thats who is going to be in the stands on a regular basis. The best stadiums are hostile to outsiders, its important to be that way. I'd never want other fans to be attacked or threatened physically but you should give them a hard time if their not in their section and if they wanna get butthurt, then its just funnier. I want their fans to be afraid to go play Miami . I want their players family to be afraid to go play miami.

They hear things things, know they are gonna lose, know they might get hurt by bigger stronger faster nasty athletes, and they don't want to go play Miami.

And Once we reliably defense our home field, we will get much better local support there. Its the Just win Baby theory at play.

Lol...just a Tech alumni. Miami kid since Jim Kelly's senior year and lurking since days of grassy. On topic, you'll be hard pressed to find a nerdier fan base at a D1 school. When I was there, campus was only 23% female. Like the Mojave compared to Miami.

im 100% sure that fans of teams that UM fans HATE can go to sun life and have a blast.

You're kidding right?

Try going to Gainesville or Tally as a Hurricane and you might understand the animosity we feel towards opposing fans.
They make it tough to just get to the stadium. Once you get in good luck finding a guy selling drinks or dogs.

It's called home field for a reason. You give the opposing team **** and their fans.
How dare they even think they can come here and have a nice relaxing experience.

I might be just a 48 year old, old school type of fan, but I don't believe any opposing fan should leave sans gobs of spit hanging from their faces or without fear in their eyes.

you spit in opposing fans faces? really?

The irony here is that my wife and I were **** near mugged after the Georgia Tech game last season walking back to our car.

Seriously? We had zero problems & even the frat guys were a bunch of pusses. They threw a football down t us & I chucked that ***** over their heads & hit their house lol. Followed by a whoops lol. They smiled & didn't say another word. My only run-in was with a cop directin traffic on my way out of downtown. A total **** for no reason!

So I start perusing some Georgia Tech forums to see what the **** have to say from themselves, and a lot of them are terrified about the potential ordeal of watching a football game down here.

"Is it safe for me to go down? I've heard some horror stories"

"How is it down there, guys? I'm kind of scared"

"I'm bringing my 9-year-old with me, think we'll be ok?"

This game is the least of that kid's worries, hopefully he finds a real man as a Father before it's too late, bub. It seems these geeky ACC teams and Florida fans are terrified of coming to Sun Life. The description some of them give makes it sound like they're marching into Juarez and it'll be a miracle if they don't end the night in the back of a van with pillow cases over their heads. "It was awful. I was surrounded by brown people, which I can only assume were authentic Cubans and drug smugglers. To make it worse, there was nowhere to hang my ascot." I guess being called a maricón by a couple of drunk dudes from Hialeah is just too much to handle for some.

These lame ACC teams won't get anything more than a few drunk wiggers calling them a ****. It's an entirely different atmosphere for ACC teams not named FSU. The front-running wiggers sit it out and it's mostly normal people.

Has anyone ever looked at going to an away game and thought "Oh, I don't know if it's safe. I'm a little scared to go." LOL da fugg? I actually like to try and get tickets in the opposing teams student section and be all

Get your act together, other fans. You're embarrassing yourselves. C'mon down to beautiful Miami and watch the game. I'll buy you and your group some chili dogs and smash it over your heads.

Haha, good post. Ever been to Juarez? I would take my kid there anyday...just not during the night. Bunch of ***** fans reflects on the attitude and success of the team. It's understandable why GT and Uf are scared of going to the U.
