Sorry boss but Feagles wasn’t good last year. He had a good Orange Bowl but was awful. You could have gotten a freshman in high school to come out and have better kicks then what we saw throughout the year.
Feagles is terrible he better not fuq up field position

Looking forward to see how the DTs operate with the more modern and NFL based technique our new DL coach is teaching. Should be much better against the run.

That is more so what I meant. We have 2 sub 300 pounders in the middle of our defense. We got GUTTED at times last year with a 310 pounder in the middle, so you understand where my concern is coming from?

Id rather have quicker athletic guys who can play with great technique. Remember that 350 pound JUCO Golden brought in that got dominated every play? Forget his name but he sucked.

Most of our run troubles last year were bc:

1) the DL played with poor technique in our gap integrity.
2) our LBs were poor at fitting the run when we play zone defense, particularly when we play 3-4 zone blitz.
3) we blitz too often, and we sell out for the TFL at the risk of properly setting the edge.

I expect #1 to be fixed this year as our DL coach now actually teaches gap integrity.

Number two will improve, but I expect to see frustrating runs bouncing outside bc this is Manny’s defense (and hasnt changed for a decade).

feagles was okay last year. he had some great punts and some really bad ones, but he was a freshman. there's a difference between not being able to kick at all and just being inconsistent--feagles was the latter.

as it pertains to knowles, in general people on this board are too quick to dismiss veteran players who haven't developed. it's not uncommon at all for guys to be not very good for a while and then become useful when they become older. langham is a great example of someone everyone just assumed was going to transfer and who made some plays last year. you can go back to someone like davon johnson, who did nothing for his entire career until becoming a pretty valuable receiver in his senior year. even guys like DVD, brandon mcgee... for every bar milo or whoever there's guys who put it together for a year or two at the end.

remember that this board also had like a 20 page thread talking about how lawrenece cager should be kicked off the team because he didn't catch a few balls in the FSU game, and now he's a clear cut starter with NFL potential.
There is a huge difference between not being good enough to get on the field or not making plays while in the game. Robert Knowles was/is a liability on the field. We talk all the time about our RBs not ******** up on pass protection and being a liability, the same applies to Knowles.

Maybe he will prove me wrong, but the margin of error for him playing on D is razor thin especially with the talent at DB

What is so complicated about playing safety in our system that amari carter ( who was an early enrollee) hasnt picked it up yet?

Well we have yet to see if either of these guys are that. Pound for pound McIntosh was one of the best athletes on the team last year. He played undisciplined at times and that hurt us, as you mentioned we had a lack of gap integrity. You would rather have guys with great technique, well yeah we all would. But is that going to be the case? We will see in 5 days.

At least ESPN admits they’re a SCAM

unbelievable that and unacceptable for our weak link to ever be defensive back, amazing to me and real disappointing. Should be a strength every season, other that that good write up

Get what you’re saying, but being the weakest link doesn’t necessarily mean they are a weak link. The secondary is still a strength overall. And safety play can cover up some CB deficiencies. It’s really a numbers issue, not talent issue. Also, it’s a hypothetical, but maybe we’re not even having this conversation if Malek doesn’t come down with that brutal injury.

Corner should be stacked 5 deep with first rounders just based off the schools location, maybe not first rounders through out but we should have a first rounder all the time there and have savage depth on defense. That should be all positions just based off location and if its not then part of the job is to not let those kids leave so u dont have these problems later on.
