Fall Camp Early Portion Summary - 8/4

Increased depth will greatly improve special teams. I love when people fear us from kickoff laying the boom to start off the game! I also have Steed as a breakout player this year. I loved his high school tape great instincts. It will take a minute for him to get going but when he do watch out Pinckney 2.0!

Why do you assume pat bethel isn’t good enough to start for Miami?

Are you trying to say he isn’t big enough? He’s 6’3 295, uga runs a 3-4 and you know how big their nose tackle was? John Atkins 6’3 305 in a scheme that usually have bigger nose tackles. Football has evolved
Bethel aint no 295.

If Tito Odenigbo or Jonathan Ford can beat out Patrick Bethel, I think the D Line can have the depth we need to be very good.

What I would like to see:
1st Team
DE Joe Jackson
DT Gerald Willis III
DT Tito Odenigbo or Jonathan Ford
DE Jon Garvin

2nd Team
DE Gregory Rousseau
DT Patrick Bethel
DT Tito Odenigbo or Jonathan Ford
DE Demetrius Jackson

3rd Team
DE Scott Patchan
DT Nesta Silvera
DT Jordan Miller
DE Terry McCray or Patrick Joyner

Bethel has been decent for us and I believe he can be more than serviceable.

He’s a sophomore this year. He played the first game last year. Shoulda redshirted he was still dealing with a shoulder injury.

Hes definately a rs freshman if they want him to be. That one game doesnt affect it. He is probably a sophomore credit wise. I played in 2 games as a freshman and still retained my elgibility. This was early 2000s

The dline will be much better with Nesta starting bc hes the best DT on the team next to Willis.
He’s the most talented next to willis but he’s still a true freshman. Let him prove himself at the college level first

LT St. Louis -- Brown
LG Boulware -- Scaife
C Gauthier -- Gaynor
RG Reed -- Hillery
RT Donaldson -- Campbell

Scout team: Herbert, Jones, Milo, Mahoney, Dykstra

rok: this is an interesting depth chart that you posted - when was this used. Lots of the young guys with talent.

He’s was 6’3 285 when they listed the roster in the first couple weeks of June. In almost 2 months of the strength training program he is definitely in that 290-295 range. Regardless he’s strong as ****
Dude still looks like a DE. If he is 295 then its impressive how he carries it.

The two places I’m the most nervous about outside of Rosier progressing are the interiors of both lines. It is so imperative that we come out of camp healthy and with at least a two deep on each side. It’s the difference between having a good season and a great season

Bethel looks to have put on some weight when i ssaw him. His lower body is small though. Skinny legs..not sure why..but he has also been called one of the strongest dl by coaches in the spring. They play him as a 1 tech so he got to be strong. I doubt hes 295 though

Joe Jackson at SDE. I didn’t really expect it, assumed it would be DJax/Patchan at SDE and joe Jax/ garvin at WDE. But I like it. Get our most talented guys on the field. And joe looked like he could hold his own last year.
