Fall Camp Early Portion Summary - 8/13

Is Lingards running style (straight up) holding him back or is it that he tries to bounce every run outside.?? He can fly but if he needs a RS year I'm all for it, I just don't see it happening unless his style needs an entire over haul.
Might be over analyzing imo, just a few practices ago Thomas brown said he was working towards a more prominent role. He will be fine.

Barring an injury, I don’t see Lo taking a RS. Backs that can play (both he and Davis can play) don’t last more than 3 seasons in college. Get him the experience of playing RB at this level and put him on ST.

I don't believe in redshirting backs unless they are hurt.

We redshirted Lamar Miller and he left after three years anyway. Get your money's worth.

If you are gonna redshirt a RB, redshirt Davis. I honestly don’t see Gray getting any valuable reps. It’s gonna be Homer, Dallas, and Lingard. With Burns, Lingard, and probably Dalls on special teams. Great to see depth at that position after last year with only Homer and Dallas being the rbs.

Miami has Javarrius and Mike James, Cooper, Berry, and Lee Chambers at RB in 09. Miller probably wouldn’t have played much if at all.

I agree tho get your money’s worth especially talented guys like Lingard.

Exactly. You get any snaps you can from a talented back, because they NEVER stay 5 years. I'll never forget Coker not wanting to burn Gore's redshirt in the Fiesta Bowl, and he left early anyway. You get Lingard on the field wherever he can contribute, because he's a 4 year MAX player.

Hey Stef or D .....did you hear anything about D Jackson leaving scrimmage with an injury? Sorry if it’s been talked about , I’ve been at work.

This would be an awful loss.

After the first scrimmage of fall camp, we knew there would likely be some depth chart changes, and the coaches were hinting towards that all last week. Here were a few changes that took place today.

**The biggest shakeup was at TE, with Brevin Jordan working with Malik Rosier and the first team, moving over Brian Polendey, who was with the twos. Will Mallory remained with the threes.

**Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas remained unchanged at first and second team RB respectively, but Trayone Gray was working as the third teamer and moved over from fullback today. Robert Burns (4th) also hopped over Lorenzo Lingard (5th) as well.

**The first team OL remained unchanged. LT George Brown was out with an undisclosed injury today, so the second team O-Line was shaken up a bit. Delone Scaife moved over to LT from RG to take his spot. Cleveland Reed moved into the 2nd team to take Scaife's spot at RG. Also Zalon'tae Hillery, who was previously working as the second team RT, moved down to third string and was replaced by Kai-Leon Herbert.

Second Team OL: LT Delone Scaife, LG Venzell Boulware, C Corey Gaynor, RG Cleveland Reed, RT Kai-Leon Herbert
freshman are taking over that line... man, we needed that infusion of talent!

Thanks. If not reported on by Richt (he expressly said no real injuries from the scrimmage), then I'm gonna assume (and hope) it's minor. Need D Jax this year. And even more so, he deserves to have the success he will this year

Feel happy for Choc quite frankly.

We have heard around here that he has very good work ethic. He is probably hustling, running straight at the holes with purpose and most importantly blocking with intensity.
I hope he balls out and finally lives up to the Greentree hype and is a contributor to our success in his final season.

Cam and Lo should be able to find roles on ST
totally agree… put them immediately on kickoff returns! JT was terrible back there. I much prefer RB's. You may not hit the big one, but we can do better than the freaking 20 yard line.

No need to overreact on Lingard

Choc & Burns are just getting their fare shot in camp to show what they can do. It's hard to get a good look at all 6 RB's in practice. This was probably planned and not performance based. The bigger takeway is Davis is more likely to RS or just play ST.

I fully expect Lingard to be #3 during the season, but wouldn't be surprised to see Choc as the #3 RB in games like Savannah St. (as a nod to a hard working Senior).
