Our receiver core on paper is solid. What says everyone about the type of impact, if any, Braxton will have on the team this season? We all know he had knee surgery for a torn ACL. Has there been any update as to his return? Best case scenario he is absolutely too sick to keep off the field. In a perfect world he receives a shirt because our upperclassmen should do what juniors and seniors in college do. Keep freshman studs off the field. So fellas, can this shifty slot receiver ball this year or can we allow him to recoup from a major knee injury?

I would prefer a redshirt. He has punt return specialist capability early on tho.

RS.....No need rushing him back because WRs are already solid without him...

This should depend on his recovery. I haven't heard anything at all about how he is coming along. My guess is that he will benefit from a rs.

His talent is undeniable. But barring a few injuries to our current roster, I have to shirt him. Maybe some mop up duty, but nothing consistent.

2 things will determine the answer to this question:

1) The return/emergence of Malcolm Lewis. Similar skill sets/positions, and if Lewis is back to 100%, it will be tough for Berrios to take reps away.

2) How quickly Berrios returns to form from the knee injury. If Berrios is 100%, then I think you find ways for him to help the team on Special Teams right away either on covering kicks, blocking kicks, or returning kicks. Might even see some Wildcat formations with him as well.

Speaking of Wildcat...can you imagine a Wildcat formation with Trayone Gray, Braxton Berrios, Duke Johnson, and Joe Yearby all on the field at the same time??? Geez...talk about matchup nightmares.

IF he's a 100%, I don't see him redshirting. not with dorsett gone after this season. he would play in the slot. if he's 100% and that good, he's playing. he came in spring semester to get a jump on the process.
but, it all will depend on his recovery at the start of the season. if he isn't 100% to start camp, redshirt him.

I expect Berrios to put up the same numbers as MICHAEL CAMPANARO. they are the same exact player.

67 REC 803 YDS 6TD

Not as a Freshman of course but he will be a play maker for us.

Let's hope we can afford to redshirt him, but his attitude is going to be hard to keep off the field. You can feel him and Kaaya chomping at the bit.

if gray gets in..he is our return specialist non Berrios...

but we need slot receivers and guys that help young QBS now..who knows what relationship him and Olsen or Kaaya build...

again its depth...

No need to make that call now. If he's 100% and can help the team he should play. As I understand it, his tear was a partial and he is probably running already. Anyone know?

yes he is...as is duke and yearby....They are all a go for Fall ball or as Andrew said spring ball

Shirt the kid. Too much to ask for him to come in here, rehab an ACL in 9 months, and adjust to the speed of the game and college life. He isn't in his hometown either. He seems like a really mature kid, but I think sometimes you can fray even a rock solid kid with throwing too much at him. Let him get the knee right.
