ESPN Blob: Does 2013 FSU compare to 2001 Miami?

The comparison is extraordinarily premature.

People didn't realize how great 2001 Miami was until a few years after they won it. What made that Miami squad special was the success of many of the players in the NFL. Alot of pro bowlers and future hall of famers...and pro bowlers that were on the sideline watching because we were so stacked.

Unless FSU can top the # of pro bowlers and hall of famers that team had, its a stupid comparison.

Exactly what I was gonna say. You can only compare this years FSU team after 3 or more years down the road.

This FSU team has to be considered one of the greatest teams of all time. Especially if they blow out Auburn which I think they will. Still can't compare this to the 2001 canes team yet.

Let's start another debate. Is this the best cover SI ever came up with in their history?

I would vote yes.

Negged for saying something other than "F$U sucks".

The team that blew us out this year? You're a dumb.***. You're the type of fan that gives us a bad name. Go blow a goat.

I don't know if this FSU team is the best team in the country this year, meaning that I don't know how the team would do against Alabama. There are plenty of undefeated teams over the years and only a couple are discussed in the rarified air that is in this discussion of all-time greatest. I can't see putting this FSU team there.

The FSU team will deserve credit if it wins the NC, which I am expecting, but I don't see putting that team up there with UM 2001 or Nebraska 1995. I agree with a lot of people that put UM 1986 on the doorstep of the discussion, but that team is out on a technicality (should have run Alonzo more).

Man those blob movies always scared the **** out of me as a kid.

now comes this espn blob, and it's even scarier, knowing there are people this dumb walking the earth making comparisons to the greatest team of all time.

gonna run and find some rusted out weed overgrown drive in to hide from this espn blob now.

This isn't even the best FSU team of all time, if you're not the best team your own school has produced you're certainly not the best college football has ever produced.

Go blow a goat. LOL That's something my co-worker from Sri Lanka used to say. Every insult had something to do with goats...

Adelson's a hack. She produces nothing but drivel and is a symptom of the espn problem.

I should neg you for even posting an opinion of hers.

I think People need to be reminded of what happend when the Heisman Winner played the 2001 Miami team:

518.jpg

*2001 Heisman Memorial Trophy
*2001 Walter Camp Player of the Year Award
*2001 Davey O'Brien Award
*2001 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year

We all knew he couldn't throw well before the game but...
-He was 5-of-15 passing for 62 yards and one interception.
-He threw 1 interception that was retruned for 47 yards for a TD.
-He was sacked twice for a loss of 17 yards
519.jpg

Nebraska kicker Sandro DeAngelis crouches and lowers his head after Miami's James Lewis returned an interception for a touchdown in the second quarter.

He won the Heisman due to his running skills and at first glance he did OK...
-Crouch carried 22 times for 114 yards.

but...
-He had 1 rush for 27 yards in the 1st and 1 in the 4th for 37. Take those 2 runs out and he rushed 20 times for 50 yards.
-He had 1 fumble that was recovered by Miami and lead to Miami's first TD.
-His first four rushing attempts resulted in 1 lost fumble and -5 yards.
-He was tackled for losses on 5 caries and once for no gain
-For the first time this season, Crouch was held without a touchdown.

-Nebraska came into the game averaging 451.2 yards of total offense; the Cornhuskers were held to 243.
-Miami's defense made 10 of its 13 tackles for losses in the first half.
