Ereck Flowers was mauling yesterday

I still think Flowers will regress somewhat leading up to his draft. It's more logic than anything else, not based on any specifics in his game. He was rated high coming out of high school but nothing to justify some of the projections here, like top 10 pick. There's a natural leveling off point in a case like that. You'll certainly be correct more often than not in predicting a bounce. It's like Reshad Jones with the Dolphins. He had a nice season last year and the fans with poor instincts expect it to continually trend in the same direction. Jeff Ireland was similarly clueless and signed him to an expensive contract. Meanwhile, Jones was a 5th round pick who was never considered special. He's fallen off considerably this year, just as many of us predicted on Dolphin forums.

All of that makes no sense. Well done

Flowers is more comfortable at left tackle than Henderson has ever been at any spot. Hence the more consistent production. Overall they are very similar in ability. IMO, Henderson is slightly more talented and that will show up in the pros. I've never understood the knocks on Henderson, based on effort. He was always somewhat in the doghouse and that limited his ability to get comfortable at a spot and produce play after play. I think once he is highly regarded in the pros many of the posters who knocked him here will be baffled and silent.

dude tried comparing ereck flowers to reshad jones....oh lord....

ya it hurts awgi...it hurts me too.....but im now a bigger cane fan than a dolphin.....aint no comparisons between these two teams.

Anyone remember this dude's recruiting process? The epitome of a mature young man, no kid games, no attention seeking or pageantry, no wishy washy female ****. dude was a ******* boss about it. And then he steps in from day one and is a complete beast. LOVE Flowers. He and Duke are two of the most mature young players we have had here in a long time. Who was their HS coach? Dude knows how to develop young men.

Just like Darling, McDermott, Gibbons etc. this year

We been arguing a lot here lately. Glad OP made this happy thread.
Let's Go Canes!

So according to this guy...logic dictates that you can't keep getting better if you are a 4 star recruit? WTF LOL

Henderson is the Canes' Clowney, but not as good. Dude half assed it most of the year, did his worst sandbagging during VT and Duke.

**** him.

SOOOO if by chance he becomes a 15 time pro bowler/hall of famer I am sure you would not be a fan then..SMH would prob jump all over them T bags

Love your posts, but I don't follow your logic here. Flowers is bound to regress because he wasn't a five-star coming out of high school? There were nine offensive linemen selected in the first round last year. Seven of them were three-stars or below. That's 78% of last year's first round offensive linemen.

Flowers has the physical skill set in terms of size and mobility. His aggression is excellent, and the fact that he was basically a starter from Day One says a lot about his mental makeup.

Truthfully, I think both Henderson and Flowers end up Pro Bowlers. Betting on Canes to succeed in the pros is a safe proposition.

Awsi tends to put a lot of stock in "pre" ratings, be it pre-season team ratings or, in this case evidently, recruiting rankings.

I've been disappointed in the OL for much f the year - at least run blocking. But, yesterday was their best game of the year. They were money for sure.

I don't think we have been bad running the ball. We are 27th in the nation in ypc.

Duke was a homerun hitter. We had short yardage failure consistently all year long.

Not really a failure. We did miss a few crucial short downs, but made the vast majority of them.

We are also the only team I can ever remember whose short yardage backs were both under 200lbs.

He's the most athletic lineman I've ever seen. He can play in any Oline system with his size and athletic ability. That goal line block was amazing. He pancaked two guys in the blink of a second, lol.

Yep.

NFL comparison would be Trent Williams. Great athlete LT with great frame who is now one of the best LTs in the pros.
