Ennis Rakestraw, 2020 Duncanville (TX) Cornerback

Take all day even if we hit on our targets but we need to find a way to open up those hips more. 4.44 shuttle even though he could move.

This is the kind of stuff that makes me shake my head. His teammate was one of the most sought after Safeties in the country and we even offered but now we find him?

North Shore. Both of those teams looked tough as **** on D. I think North Shore was missing a key offensive player and Duncanville lost their QB to injury in the semifinals. They had a 15 year old come in for his first ever start in what looked like a full house at JerryWorld. That 15 year old through pass that looked like it was 60 yards in the air.

Couldn’t imagine being 15 and starting your first game ever in a sold out Cowboy Stadium.

Prtty insane that a high school football game can fill up a pro stadium. Texas high school football must be pretty **** serious
Yeah man football in Texas is real serious! A few pictures of a 63 million dollar stadium. This is the Duncanville vs Rockwall game at McKinney ISD football stadium. Not great pic but for a HS this is unreal.

****, that's nice. How does it work in Texas? Do they have a stadium for each school district instead for each school?

Yeah for most school districts. Richardson ISD has stadiums for all HS I believe. Richardson is just north of Dallas. Duncanville is the only HS in Duncanville, TX which is located just south of Dallas. Duncanville enrollment is close to 5000 students. There are several HS stadiums that are 60 million or more in the area. I coached basketball in Dallas for a while so I have visited a lot of these schools.

It's about **** time we start to hit Tejas for DB's, I've been saying for two years we need to build a pipeline into Texas to get QB's & DB's, they're loaded at those positions in every class.

Duncanville is one of the 3 best schools in Texas, they produce great players every year.

He's a legit 6'0 with a good long armed frame, definitely needs to add weight but can be a very good prospect with development. Has good footwork, fluid hips & coverage skills, despite being a slender kid he ain't afraid to put a hat on somebody & stick, good tackler. Prototype Field Corner.

I like this offer way better than the Colson kid from Georgia, Rakestraw is true CB with very good natural athleticism, plays aggressive & has legit 4.4 speed. Nice upside.

He's a take all day, SMU & Kansas are on him as of late, we should be pushing hard to get him.

Don't think he's a day 1 ready corner due to needing to get physically bigger, but you absolutely get him on your team & see how it works out once in the S&C program.
Please get me into Texas LCE... them dudes love love football

Wasn't Evan Cooper Jr on UM's off-field staff during Golden era?
Yeah, I remember his dad at Killian HS.
We both graduated HS in 1980.
His dad actually signed a State LOI with UM before bolting to Michigan.
That year we lost a bunch of local kids who had signed state LOI...players
like William Roberts (OSU,NFL), Rodney Lyles (Killian, Michigan), Stefan Humphries (STA, Mich),
Buster Rhymes (Northwestern,Oklahoma) and Jesse Bendross (Miramar, Alabama).
Anyways, sorry for geezing again.
Let's get this DB.
Buster Rhymes ?

This is the film. First thing that jumps out to me is how agile he is on his feet. True corner feet and also has good enough hips to stick there. Obviously needs to bulk up but he is a willing tackler. Needs to wrap up lower and lead with the shoulder more but the mentality is there. Could also get better at attacking the ball in the air. He kinds lets it land on him like a punt reception instead of attacking it at the highest point. Doesnt get tested that much deep on that film which is something I would like to see to fully judge him but overall good player.

good 200meter guy in the 22's in track despite running in only 2 HS meets.

Looks like we have the high school head coach on our side.

Thrash is originally from Lake Travis, the premier HS football school in Austin, but now is at DV....makes sense he has Manny connection.

Edited to add, Thrash isn’t head coach, he is an assistant. Great connection to have here though, he gets respect.
