Encouraging DT play

When actually seen I thought Porter was our most gifted dt since Vince. I am not sure he still has that same ability after all of his injuries and I expect that he'll probably get hurt this year. But if they can keep him healthy he may be the 2nd most important player on the D

Remember Porter was only injured once while at UM. That was a fluke play against Ohio state when Marcus got thrown into his knee. Last year he missed time because of a staph infection. He got one twice on the broken finger he had. The infection is what kept him out. Those infection are serious and could lead to amputations.

Been meaning to post this in the practice reports, but I am very impressed by the play of the DT

Luther Robinson seems to have turned the corner and Curtis Porter is healthy and playing very well. We know what Darius Smith will give and I've talked about Ivery in-depth.

Olsen Pierre has added a lot of weight as well. This could be a solid group

Fantastic news, we need this unit to play much better this year.

The awful DT play has killed us in recent years. We literally ran out of bodies there last year. Even though it turned out to be a good move to move Ojomo inside (and would've been nice for him to have gotten the hardship and be on the team this year), it's placed too much pressure on the LBs and DBs. This group has a good chance to turn that around. Hope we stay healthy.

I wonder if it's the DT's playing great or the interior O-line playing like ish...my guess is the later.

I like our OL a lot. Might be our strongest, deepest position behind LB. I think our DTs are just talented and are finally putting it together.

So was it just a great motivational tactic when Golden told Luther he was moving to OL?

Just posted in another thread but will Corey King give us anything (heard mixed reviews)?

And props to Luther Robinson. Staff was going to move him to OL and he stepped it up and seems to be delivering. Golden's story about Luther was pretty good.

Is there an interview posted somewhere regarding this? I know Golden lit a fire under Luther last year but is there another story to tell regarding him?

Golden talks about him today.

The interior of our OL should be very good if McDermott steps up. Linder is our best OL and Feliciano was good at Rt as a Fr and OG is his natural position

I meant Porter surprising as not just coming in and playing well but i think he goes all-ACC with denzel.

considering that Jeremy Lewis, Dyron Dye and David Perry were moved from DL to OL...I don't think it was just a motivational tactic.

Porter has always looked impressive IMO when he's been healthy. I think he can have a breakout season this year and that would be huge for our chances at winning ballgames.

yeah agree with everyone saying Porter should do it big this year. That man got a nice first step and he's always played with good leverage. I got him getting 4 or 5 sacks this year and tops among DTs in tackles for loss. I would say tops for DL but Chick's going to get his share of those.

I agree about the DE's needing to be better. We're not even hearing that much about Chick in practice; hopefully that means Bunche is rock solid. We need a consistent pass rush, one that has been missing for years around here.

Color me skeptical on Jethro; im still not sold on him, and frankly, I thought Petri was a **** good technical coach, just didnt have a lot to work with.

Very, very disappointed about Grimble. His name is regularly missing from the practice updates.
