Emory… also not hurt

If Cam has a long term injury I expect Emory to start in his place. He is clearly the 2nd best QB on this team.

I also expect Emory to be the starter next season. Like Dawson told us last year, Emory is made to play QB.
Is he though? Or, are we just more familiar with/loyal to him?

The Albany kid put up big numbers and that level of competition has never scared off NFL GMs from drafting those kids high.

I’ll keep this as polite as I can , Pof had a very inconsistent camp. Emory was much better.
The type of info you're noted for. :)

Switching subjects: Do you have any thoughts in terms of how our RBs rank in terms of their Pass Pro capabilities? If other factors are pretty much equal, that could play a role with coaching decisions I'd think.

Loyalty and familiarity certainly bias me in favor of Emory. I love players who are developed within the UM system.

And nothing against Poff who can be good, but I think what separates Emory from so many players is his leadership. He will never have Cam’s arm talent but with the right team of talented players around him, he will be a big time winner. He isn’t a 1 man show like Cam was at WSU. But he can really run the team as we saw even last year as a true freshman against our 2 toughest opponents.

He made some nice throws. He’s really making progress. Still not sure we don’t go after another portal quarterback next year but he is definitely making strides.
We can and should. Still think Emory will be able to out compete almost anyone we could bring in. Would have to be another Cam caliber player imo.

We haven't seen Emory since FSU, and all the positivity turned sour about him on here because we finally saw what a "real QB" looks like when Cam stepped on campus, so began to make unrealistic comparisons.

But that Emory that won vs a **** good Clemson team (with Ajay Allen playing lights out that game too, btw), and that Emory that almost rallied us back to victory against an undefeated Noles team, is still "that Emory". And he's gotten much better. Better than I could have hoped for TBH. Gonna be very interesting to see how he develops over the next year plus. I could definitely see him starting at some point.

Some kids just don't translate from FCS to FBS. Poff is more like the UF right tackle than FSU's defensive end from last year. It is what it is.

I agree and the more competition, the better. Plus I kind of like having an athletic guy at quarterback and going right back to another statue pocket passer isn’t my ideal choice. Still, he could be a solid starter if need be.

No matter how much progress Emory makes, we are going after the best QBs available in the portal. I just hope we're back channeling to make sure we get a **** good one.

I liked how he looked last season and I'm sure he's developed further since then. All good.

BTW, how's your nephew settling in to UM? I recall your report in June was all very favorable. Looking forward to seeing him on the hardwood, playing for Coach L soon enough.
