Elated that we won! Now, some thoughts on Guidry

Agree on all points. We were beaten to the edge on seemingly every play. VT got 4 yards per run every time.
It just felt all night like our defense was a step behind their offense. We never seemed to make anyTFL’s, or very few.

Dare I say we looked like a Manny Diaz defense.

Yes the TO’s were a major problem, but we stall gave up almost 400 years in offense, and it would have been more than 400 if the last play was not overturned.
Maybe it's because we were a step behind, didn't catch motion guy, were lined up poorly pre snap, or some combo of all these, but it seemed like Tuten and Drones were faster than any guy we had out there

We knew before the season that the secondary was the weakness. Still with the struggles and giving up only 189 I will take it every Saturday. Louisville is the only team left on the schedule with the ability to really take advantage of the secondary
The 189 should have been higher, Cam's cuz threw some aweful balls and their receivers can't catch. VT had plays to be made and our defense wasn't the reason they weren't made.

And every team remaining on the schedule has the ability to take advantage of our secondary. Hopefully, when Bain returns it will improve dl line play and we'll be able to pressure the qb/stop the run. 7 needs to change his jersey number, lol, a **** star would be proud the way he got rode.

I disagree with the every team thing. The other teams don’t have good qbs and wr

Th humidity was crucial last night and it was difficult to tell which team was from South Florida for sure.

The whole team came out sluggish. They weren’t up for this game. I can see an individual poor performance but when the whole team has a poor performance they weren’t ready.

We played awful up front-Their OL punched us in the mouth the whole game we finally responded somewhat in the 2nd half-

We are very undersized at DT-Were doing it by committee-We were 4-0 against inferior OL’s UF and USF don’t count Ball St or FAMU-

VT exposed us on the interior-Unfortunately the young freshman aren’t ready to help us in a game like this-

Our back seven looked good going 4-0 because our DL was getting great penetration-

Still we’re good enough to beat everyone on our schedule-

Tackling across the board was bad.
He got out-schemed and out-coached.

Most of all - Why would you only send 3 guys to rush the QB on the Hail Mary???? Insane!!! When I saw that, I just couldn't believe it!!! The difference between having 7 guys back and 8 guys is minimal, as we saw with the near miracle catch, but having one more guy putting heat on the QB could've prevented all of this drama. I really hope he doesn't do that again

I think we got outplayed and outschemed. Way overactive for a team using it against us every down and almost no disguise and few adjustments. If we tackle it doesn’t matter but we have problems.
They looked prepared for us and we did not

Think this is a lot of words to type instead of blaming the players. I didn’t see one play where the call on the field was bad. I did however see time and time again players in position that couldn’t finish.
What are we missing? What are you seeing with your coaching eyes?

Houston stand up!!!

Go coogs baby!!! And to be honest I’m seeing a **** poor lack of adjustment pre snap every first half. It’s almost as if they don’t know their keys until halftime. Using our aggression against us. Everyone is attacking without thinking. So that’s a great coaching point. But making a tackle?? That’s all effort and technique. Go be a athlete

Appreciate you my brother! Great week for a bye and some coaching. Need that discipline, especially with all UL likes to do pre snap

I like Guidry but the last two weeks especially the first halves have been really bad defense. To his credit he’s been much better in the second half of all the games allowing 10 points or less in every game. With this offense the D just needs to hold teams to the 20-24 point range and we’re in good shape.

It’s called man and it’s called his defense.

Maimi doesn’t play zone. This will continue to happen until Miami has good enough players to play man all game

Said this last week and it still stands.

The defense is the defense. Miami will need to limit turnovers and score 40pts every game to win.

Not sure they can keep it up. The back 7 in defense is putrid.

It's quite clear that Guidry is making adjustments to the defense after each half. Just look at the opponents' offensive points pre- and post- half-time this season through 5 games:

First Half: 55 allowed
Second Half: 20 allowed

The concern for me is that he is waiting until the half to make these adjustments instead of identifying an issue and addressing in the first few drives. Good teams are going to run up the score on us in the first half and we're going to get caught trying to catchup to a lead that is **** near insurmountable. Guidry must identify gaps immediately in the game and get them squared--not wait until the 3rd quarter. I don't know what those guys in the booth are doing but the Comms needs to be quicker and clearer.
Points Allowed (MIA @ CAL):
First Half: 21
Second Half: 17.

That doesn't tell the story of the Cal game. Adjustments didn't get executed until 8 minutes left in the 3rd. If you account for that then really:

First Half +8:00: 35
+8:00 in the 3rd and all of the 4th: 3

Guidry and this Defense are getting off too slow of a start. The adjustments are not quick enough to compete with the juggernauts waiting for us in the postseason. It really is our Achilles. We are scoring an average of 47.666 points per game. That's good enough. Our Defense needs to stop ******* around and hold opponents to under 20. Almost all of these points are happening in the first half of games which tells me we need an def. strat adjustment--fair--but it shouldn't take half the game to discover what the opponents offensive game plan is.

We’re just not very good on the back end… we can dress it up however we want. And that’s been a known fact to even us. We have really good DL talent which will disguise how void of talent starters and depth wise with our DBs and everyone knows it. EVERYONE… the tape doesn’t lie.

Guidry and Jackson are trying to make chicken salad from chicken ****. We have to recruit better there. I don’t care who we get we’re going to take a step back at QB next year so have to get much better in the other areas if we don’t want this thing to go off the rails completely.
