It's unacceptable to continually lose prospects especially to our rivals up north & just act like it's no big deal...

Edwards is a really good football player, we literally had this kid & have been on him more than any other team recruiting & we're still struggling to get him.

It's not the end of the world, but it's not something to be celebrating over either...

This staff has to actually close, too many times we got a kid "locked in" only to get smacked upside the head at the last second by a team that gave minimal effort & just straight up jacked us for croots.

They need to to be more aggressive, stop tryna Jesus your way into a recruits heart & pay your way into his mind...

Edwards been on Miami campus dozens of times, Hendo been on campus so much he practically lives there, UF don't even be on these kids that heavy & they just snatch'em up... You wanna take a wild guess how?

Anyone who has followed UM closely over the years has seen this movie before. UMs chances of landing elite recruits is slim. It's been for a while. We actually had a program set up during the Butch years and I'm not talking about Shapiro. Let me rattle of some names of guys who were top local recruits that were commited or we recruited them like mad to only have them spit in our face.

Just some names that come to mind.

Patrick Peterson (Johnson)
Ali Highsmith
Corey Lemonier
Dwayne Bowe
Calvin Ridley
Alex Collins

Those dudes were bought. They practically lived on campus the amount of times they visited. Stacey Coley was a Nole but his HS COACH was cane. Very rarely there are a few kids who don't care about bags (AR82) and others like Duke Johnson. But for every 1-2 of those guys there are 5 who have a hand out. Been saying for along time. Elite kids are not recruited.... they are bought. You thinks schools are going to waste time with a sales pitch to Lingard? Yea maybe Duke or Syracuse. But Bama, LSU, FSU are gonna walk in half way through their senior year and present an offer. Simple as that. I find it hysterical watching our coaches run lapse around the country and hosting a recruit 20 times. Pay them secure a public commit and walk away. An extra 50 for them not to take visits. Why waste your energy when u can keep it simple

You tell no lies. Devonte Smith and Whoopie McFarland are two from this year as well. CJ going to Florida is more about his daddy and Shannon than bags IMO. Jerry Jeudy could be a $$ thing although Bama did have other built in advantages.

But my follow up question is why do you join the mope brigade in bashing Richt and the staff knowing how handcuffed they are? The only recruiting mishap this year was not having backups for McFarland. They've scratched together the 13th best class through all this BS and might even up right around 11 if they get Dean, Thomas, and Harley and keep the current commits.

I'm not bashing the staff. I think they are busting their ***. But at some point something needs to change. This is the staffs first full year to evaluate and recruit so there will obviously be some bumps, but imagine if we landed- Juedy, Davis, Wilson, Henderson? Problem is we have a very slim shot at landing elite players. Money talks and bull**** walks.

What I'm trying to say is- change the way you recruit.

-Why wast 9 months of recruiting Juedy when we could only get him to visit due to his sisters unfortunate situation.
-why have Henderson on campus almost 20 times?

allocate those wasted resources elsewhere. The coaches kno early where they stand. Next cycle will really show if this staff has it or not. A ton of elite/high end players in SoFla and many are already commited. Frierson and Jobe already commited let's see if can hang on to them.

Frierson I don't see being much of a problem. Jobe's the shaky one there....but a lot.

But I agree with this post. I've said it countless times to where it's even annoying me. But I never bought into CJ coming to Coral Gables. I just can't see it. Kid's going to UF and I tried to talk myself into thinking it's actually happening. Other things this staff needs to work on:

- Always have a backup plan, particularly for the "silent commits". If a kid's not willing to publicly commit, then don't count him as coming.
- Better at scheduling OVs. Edwards was hard to read, but that kid is impressionable and we should've been his last visit. I don't mind the staff busting their a$$ on this one, because you have to. But this kid was all about that UF offer, which he apparently got.

LOL, furthest thing from an insider. New here but got it from the other board I'm a member (where I spent about a decade or so with you, you haven't changed a bit)...knew enough people who also spent time on CiS (and remember Pete from his time as a member over there) that I figured I'd check it out.

The poster who said this is a HS football coach in 'bama...never know for sure but he's a guy I'd tend to believe on this. I'll pass info along if it seems a piece of news hasn't made its way to the other board yet. TIFWIW.

If we get Dean, Bandy, and DJ why again is this a position of need? There are very few CB classes better than the three i named. Henderson and Edwards are luxuries.

Henderson has elite speed and size. You wanna compete with the big boys then these are EXACTLY the kids you need to keep home.
