Ebuka Izundu commits!

While I will miss the hot shooting Burnett I will not miss him on the defensive side or when his shot wasn't falling. Good kid and I wish him continued success. Agree Lecomte was a bigger loss but it happens.

That said, this is a winning trade for next years team. To have an experienced Tonye patrolling the lane and Murphy, Uceda, Sherman (I think, name escapes me) and now this kid to pair with our perimeter play we may have something special brewing.

This addition, and Murphy becoming eligible, mean that we cannot continue to jack up 3's at the same rate as last year and come close to this team's potential.

Hopefully he shoots well from 15 to 18 feet. The highlight tape didn't have any midrange jump shots
We don't need him to be a stretch 4. Sherman and ICU fill that role pretty well already. We need this dude to be a rebounder and get his offense by being a garbage man on the inside, and by running in transition...basically, Kamari Murphy Jr.

As long as he can be an athletic presence on both ends in the paint, we'll be in great shape. I love this pickup. I see him as more of a Julian Gamble type than a Kenny Kadji type. Aggressive/athletic.

I am not talking about for next year I am talking about the future. He won't play much next year. It is extremely favorable for him to be able to shoot from 15 to 18 since we operate out of heavily pick and roll offense. The reason I am hoping he has a legit jumper is because the local scouting reports and his coach both said he has that ability. He has the potential to be better than Sherman. It would be be great if we could have a 4 & 5 that can score in multiple ways in 2016 and beyond

I disagree on the julian gamble comparison. He is 6'10 210-215 and has a long wingspan. Julian Gamble is 6'9 265. His body build is not similar to Gamble with a thick lower body to sustain 3-7 second box outs against heavier bigs. I can't find the VJ numbers for Gamble but after 3-4 years of our S&C I bet Izundu will have a higher VJ by at least 5-6 inches

I hope he can develop that, but I think the quote I read somewhere from Aureice McCain was that his range was up to 15 feet right now...didn't say anything about 15+, unless I missed it. Jekiri couldn't hit the broad side of a barn when he first got to UM, and now he can hit a long jumper and is a consistent FT shooter. Maybe he follows the same type of development arc as Jekiri.

Fair enough as far as body comparison versus Gamble...but I was talking more about the type of game they show...look at those highlights (and yes, I know they're HS Soph. year), but he did work on the block and the baseline. He wasn't picking and popping. He was inside, attacking the bucket, and cleaning up on the boards. Gamble of course didn't start showing that part of his game til late in his career, but there were stretches of dominance by him in the paint when he did pull it all together his Senior year. He had some great games while Reggie was out in the early part of that 2013 season. Continued to improve as he went along, too.

As far as VJ #'s, there are plenty of guys who will lose VJ # contests but are hellacious rebounders. I'll take that every day and 2x on Sunday. That's what I hope Izundu comes with. Having a nice vertical is always a plus, but I'd rather this guy get savvy with positioning and boxing out so he can either rebound and put it back, or kick it out to one of our snipers from deep. If he figures out positioning along with an elite VJ...so be it.

looks like he has a quicker jump to try dunks unlike jekiri, if jekiri had that hes be NBA and may still be

I was very impressed with his strength down low for a guy who is 6'10 and only 210 lbs. I was also impressed with his offensive game for a guy from Africa.
