Ebbs and Flows of recruiting

For the difference makers it's always been about money. that hasn't changed and it didn't seem to bother us when we were bagging 5 stars with ****** seasons the last couple of years. So what really changed? DId we lose our stomach to pay top dollar, do we not have top dollar?

Mario acted like we were a B grade consolation prize this year.....why? that's my question? Did we not anticipate the market going up? It's like escalation it's going to go up every year until people are sick of paying it.

I'd really like to know what the difference was this cycle compared to the last two
Other schools NIL have gone up. The other schools have increased their allotments a lot.

Florida being one of them. Oregon another.

The others have been ahead of us for awhile now and will remain that way. It’s gonna be tough sledding for us, but it’s why hitting on the players is so important for us. We aren’t able to just overload and then ween out like Gawga and bama

We just had a generational talent at QB with a prolific overall offense and easy schedule, yet Mario wasn’t even able to get to the acc championship. Schedule will be more difficult next year and extremely low chance our offense will be as good without cam. As a fan base, we are delusional even thinking about nattys. And if I’m a donor, why am I donating thousands/millions to an annually underachieving business? I actually question anyone’s decision making who keeps donating . Money wasn’t why Miami lost to cuse and GT.

This is not a sunshine pumping post for the current staff by any means.

But, as someone who can take emotion out of processing things…I totally get why we lost out on some of these HS recruits.

The fact is we have a ton of youth already. We need “elite” transfers like we seen in Cam and Dmart.

So do you pay top dollar for the proven player or a recruit like Pickett/Alford?

I think it’s a balancing act, but I also think this is going to be a phenomenal transfer class.

I think next year we will spend big in HS recruits. But this year will be a big portal year for us. We will be getting a top player at multiple positions.

I know of 1 player specifically we are going after and it’s looking good. Y’all will be pleased and it will be happening soon.
We really don't have a ton of youth and depth in the defensive backfield or other spots, like OL and DT.

The recruiting misses there are obvious.

Seems we missed on players that were on our roster, and now outside of Bain on defense have we gotten anything from our recruiting classes, that were highly ranked?

You simply can't slot, nor afford, elite HS and TP athletes in the same class like days gone by.

Market forces just won't allow it.

HS = "draft class" ish
TP = free agency

Of the top 20 2024 transfers (not including QBs), 13/16 are projected to be drafted in 2025 or 2026, with most projected to be first rounders. That's an 81.25% draft rate. Highschool 5 stars are around 55% draft rate last I saw, and can take years to develop.

So if Mario really goes all out on top transfers we'll be good.

I didn't include QBs cause 247 had some weird QB rankings not based on proven ability, like Aiden Chiles being the #1 QB despite almost no stats at Oregon State, and he flopped this year. And then two previous 5 stars who haven't proven anything yet. Ward was the only proven QB in the top 20.

Gonna take my L for now as I thought he would already be committed. Still a chance we get said player…but we are also involved heavily at the same position for some talent that can’t be ignored. (WR)

The idea is to get one of these players at said position to attract a player to come in (QB).

The sell is actually going differently than most think it would. The offensive system has now shown it can be effective. So we are aiming at wr with our current group and a nice addition to attract QBs who may want to bump up their stock.
