Early 2024 dream/wishlist class

The most interesting part of this was that you have a RB and an OL from Cali and an OL from Washington State.

I know that Mario was successful up and down the west coast when at Oregon and his staff was also all over the country. But I haven't seem Mario at Miami getting high profile PNW prospects and I think this class will tell us if that area is realistic.

Now, if we start winning big, we can go national. Right now I don't think we have that stroke. And QB recruiting doesn't count as those guys go everywhere.
Jaden Wayne and Riley Williams were top PNW kids that not only committed to UM, but they switched high schools to IMG seemingly in part due to Mario.

I wrote inaccurately, let me re-phrase. I want to see how effective we are with what I will now think of as "current" PNW prospects, meaning recruits actually, physically, in the PNW. I assume those two guys were Mario targets when he was at Oregon. Obviously Williams was as he as in Portland until his senior year and Wayne was in Tacoma until his senior year.

Did Mario get them to IMG? I have no idea and would love to hear the stories if you have them.

Additionally, I don't think of IMG kids as anything other than IMG kids. Pretty much by definition, they are national as soon as they enroll there. That is often why they enroll there. That was absolutely the case with Wayne. Check the Tacoma Trib for some discussion if interested. I think we all hope Mario forms a Miami "pipeline" to IMG, but I'm not sure how realistic that is. Again, time will tell.

Francis Mauigoa is originally from California. Riley Williams is originally from Oregon. Jayden Wayne from Washington. That’s three from those areas we landed recently. He’s already proven we can recruit those areas. Hopefully he continues the trend.

Updated post for my defense wishlist:

5* DE Dylan Stewart (Washington, DC)
4* DE T.A. Cunningham (Miami Central)
(Stewart will be the crown jewel of the class. I consider him to be the best defensive prospect in the nation this cycle by quiet a margin. He’s got Top5 draft pick written all over. Cunningham being at Central now makes me feel good about him also. Would like to land Pickett from Tampa along with these guys but it looks like we’ve gone cold on his recruitment.)

5* DT David Stone (OK -> IMG Academy)
5* DT Justin Scott (Chicago, IL)
3* DT Daylen Russell (Miami Columbus)
(I think we land Scott. Don’t know if we can land Stone as well but it’s a wishlist for a reason. One can only hope. Russell local kid is on board already.)

5* LB TJ Capers (Miami Columbus)
4* LB Chris Cole (Salem, VA)
3* LB Vincent Shavers (Miami Central)
(Still have a gut feeling we don’t let Capers leave with it being Mario’s Alma Mater. He’s listed as an EDGE by most but I think he plays Mike and is the Noah Sewell of our defense if we can keep him home. College ready already. Cole is an out of state legacy and rising prospect who I hope pops soon. Shavers is an underrated local stud as well and already on board.)

4* CB Jamari Howard (Miami Central)
4* CB Lawayne McCoy (Miami Central)
(Got a good feeling about Howard with him being at Central now. He’s super raw and a top100 composite kid. Still have to flip McCoy from the Noles but I think we can do it. Just hope we can sell him on playing DB I’d take the kid as a DB or WR…)

3* S Isaiah Thomas (Clearwater, FL)
3* S Dylan Day (Baton Rouge, LA)
(Don’t know where we stand with Z Patterson and his recruitment but it looks like we’re already set with these two guys committed at S.)

We about to see if Mario can really eye talent like Butch could because he’s got recruiting services scrambling to re-evaluate a lot of our commits for star bumps. A lot of these kids look one star too low.
