Duke's weight

Wow, 25 lbs of weight gain, that's a lot of weight to gain in such a short period of time.

So, there is no way he won't lose a step.

I'd much prefer him gaining the weight in a GRINDING 8-month period than packing it all on... in a mere 2 months.

Let me see, in Dec he was 170 lbs, and NOW he is 195 lbs!

As a matter of fact, looking at that picture, I do not see the veins popping out of his legs nor his arms as depicted in earlier pre 25 lbs gain pics.

There's no way of knowing for sure, but I'd bet a lot that he wasn't 170 last season and this new report is just wanting to over-dramatize the weight gain. I'm sure he is around 195 now, but I remember continuously reading that he was in the mid 180s last season. He wasn't a twig last year.

Prob about a 10 pound weight gain, which is great.

I would have him return kicks in the big games, but not against teams like FAU or Savannah State. No reason to risk it.

Dudes underestimate the importance of STs. Duke is the biggest weapon in the country back there. You don't voluntarily give that up.

As for his "alarming" weight gain, he was around 185 last year. He's going to continue to naturally mature. Someone close to him told me that his eating habits coming in to UM were horrendous (he'd eat a couple pieces of pineapple, and that would be it for most of the day). If he's improved those eating habits then the natural weight gain will come that much easier.

I'm not in favor of your stating RB returning kicks unless he is especially gifted at returning kicks.

Duke is especially gifted. Unless someone else displays ability close to his, he should be the guy.

As Golden said, "he's a stick of dynamite waiting to go off."

Golden also said that Duke can handle 20-25 carries a game this year.
I'll say it right now. If Duke returns kicks and gets 20-25 carries a game he will lead the NCAA in all purpose yardage including 1800+ rushing yards.

If healthy for the entire season and those estimates are even close, it's pretty much a sure bet. The guy put up astounding numbers last year...as a freshman. I think we sometimes forget how high his expectations were and how he simply exceeded almost all of them.

Duke was 187 when the freshman arrived in July for summer school. During the year the team doesn't lift as much as the offseason because of the physical toll of the grind of games during the year. Also Duke was hurt in the middle of the season he probably lost about 2-4 pounds easy during the year..

From when is that? That's absurd stuff.

He did that over and over in HS. That's the move I posted about months ago, where he suddenly materializes a few yards from where you last saw him. It's no fluke. It's part of the kid's moves. same with that devastating stiff arm.

He did it at Duke also. I've seen him do it a dozen times. Doesn't make it any less absurd.

great move, Gunter must have caught alot of razzing for that whiff

Duke "Nightcrawler" Johnson?
