Duke vs Thomas

Duke is my boy, but I got Gurley over everybody.

Can't argue that one but I got this feeling what we saw last year from Duke is going to be peanuts compared to this year. Not necessarily talking production numbers, but just how he looks on the field. I expect glimpses of dominance against good teams.

Projecting them as NFL players, I don't think Gurley is an easy call over Duke. Gurley is a really big, really fast (in a straight line) dude. His change of direction is average and those Safety tackles he breaks in college will be broken less often in the NFL. Of course, he will likely still be awesome, but he's a different type of back.

Here's a short video for everyone to watch him do some crazy things for a Frosh. Watch his direction and cutbacks, too.

Gurley is also a year ahead of Duke. Duke by the end of this year > Gurley last year

My most humblest of opinions of course.

same. i ******* hate uga but gurley is that dude.

richt said he came to uga at 220 and barely lifted in high school and had a trash diet. and he was still one of the best track athletes in the country. he has apparently bulked up to 230 while dropping lots of bad weight. thinking about what he's gonna do this year is terrifying. what he already did as a true freshman was up there.

Gurley actually reminds me of McGahee

Duke at his best/ceiling is more LT or Marshall Faulk as we've previously discussed

Put it this way. Duke would be unreal in Oregon's system but outside of special teams it's a mystery how good Thomas would be in ours. Thomas has unreal speed but he reminds me of a lot of those guys UF back under Meyer. Just small guys with speed but no real position.

Gurley is a stud. Interested to see what Lache does. His measurables are insane.

gurley is a freak, but i wouldn't put him in the same category as mcgahee. they were similarly built but mcgahee was faster and actually had the ability to cut on a dime and make people miss if needed to, gurley hasn't shown that yet. i would say at the same stage gurley is a more powerful runner, but then we never got to see mcgahee as a true freshman because of who he had infront of him.

So.

We're comparing Duke against the most explosive player on the west coast, and one of the best TBs in the SEC?

Who gives a ****? Good company.

call me a homer. IDC show me a true freshman highlight other than AP thats better than Dukes.

Kid is rediculous.

I'm not sure how great Duke is until I see him perform well against the big time team. Big time players make big time plays at the biggest stages. I don't have the numbers, but I don't recall Duke being a factor against KSU/ND and FSU. Now, I chalk it up to the rest of the O as well. This shortcoming goes for the rest of our Offense who seems to have been annoited as the best offense we have fielded in a long time on paper. However, we will find out week 2/real quick if we can translate the measurables to fact. I mean didn't Nordstrom High School have the top D lineman recruit in the nation? I mean he did solid work his junior year, but when Booker T came in and he faced tougher competition all of a sudden the hype, potential, and paper measurable didn't really translate to much. I really appreciate what Duke does for us, and by far he's my favorite player on the team, but he's not at the Willie Mac level yet...my all time favorite UM running back with respect to performance (in my humble opinion). Now as far as the comparision, I agree it's apple to oranges; however, I would say that with regard to National perception both are considered outstanding skill players and after sipping another drink of the orange and green koolaid--DUKE all day.

A Clowney type DE can be built, its like 5 DEs in this class that can end up doing what he does.

Stop it *Stephen A. Smith voice* ... NFL scouts say he's the best defensive prospect in 10-15 years. He takes over games.

Agree
wtf is wrong with the homers lol, I mean Clowney is a once in a life time talent. Duke type backs r in recruiting cycles every year. So would you take Duke over a rare prospect beast like Sean Taylor? Gimee 26 all day, those r the difference makers and y the BCS titles stay in that certain conference.
