Duke rushing yards and YPC this year.

I can see a 1200 yard campaign with a 5.5 ypc. He caught a lot of people off guard... They'll be watching him a bit, but not enough for him to slow down...

You think he was successful last year cause he caught people off guard? You think defenses would've some how defended him better if they knew he was a stud? There's no science to stopping a good RB. You stop a good RB the same way you stop a mediocre RB, you get off blocks and you tackle. Guys like Duke are just harder to tackle, thus they have more success. If defenses couldn't tackle him last year they ain't gonna be able to tackle him this year.

There's no way in **** he only gets 5.5 YPC. We've had RB's with half of Duke's talent that got over 5 YPC here.

5.5 YPC on heavier volume isn't anything to sneeze at, man. Clinton Portis got 1200 yards on 220 carries (5.5ypc) during our glorious run.

If you're right and he jumps over the 6ypc mark on heavy volume, you're talking about a truly special season. Mcgahee got 1753 on 282 carries for a 6.2 average (oh, and 28 rushing TDs and 27 catches for 355 yards). Kind of an unbelievable single season.

Pounding the rock with him in the UF FSU VA TECH games.

I feel in the tougher games golden will allow him to return kicks and punts. You agree?

I get Golden's theory of "Taking Duke off KR is not letting Duke be Duke," but I just think he is too important to the team and we have such a lack of depth at RB that it's not worth the risk unless the game is on the line.

danger of kick returning in college is no where near that of an NFL kick returner...creases are way bigger, talent level discrepancy...etc.

punt returning...thats another animal

You are still sprinting towards 11 guys with a head of steam looking to take you out.

I could be mistaken but I'm pretty sure Graig Cooper, Javarris James, Damien Berry all had around 5 YPC (or high 4's) average as their work load went up too. Lamar Miller was in the mid-5's when his work load went up.

I'm thinkin' Duke blows all those guys out of the water in terms of vision and talent. That's why I think he'll be better than mid 5's. I'm also considering the fact that his YPC will probably be in the 7 and 8's (or higher) when we play teams like FAU and Savannah State.

Agree that none of those guys are on Duke's level.

Here are their stats (highest volume years):

2011 Lamar Miller 227 for 1272 (5.6). Basically, one more carry than I projected Duke for this year. Didn't do that on purpose.
2008 Graig Cooper 171 for 841 (4.9).
2006 Javarris James 175 for 802 (4.6).
2010 Damien Berry 190 for 899 (4.7).
