Duke Reminds Me So Much Of This Dude

Whens the last time a Cane RB housed two runs over 50 yards in one game?

Very impressed.

In one run he broke more tackles than Miller did all of last year.

This was my exact thought after that run. When's the last time we had an RB that could break that many tackles on 1 run? Frank Gore?

He really does remind me of Portis....doesnt lean as much, but those short steps and lateral cuts are very similar.

Definitely reminded me of Portis too, he seems tuck his shoulders in when approaching contact, lean forward and keep his legs going at all times. He stumbles forward sometimes b/c of the lean just like Portis would sometimes.

THIS THREAD IS SO STUPID. 1 GAME AND THIS KID IS A NFL PRO-BOWLER.

I don't think the thread is stupid, but there is some hyperbole going on in this thread. It's one thing to say who he reminds you of and another to say that he will be better than someone of the all time best RBs after one game

After watching carefully, he is more similar to Portis, justa little bit smaller and slower. But that's no knock on Duke because he's fast, it just tells you what Portis brought

Many of us have been saying he's a Pro Bowler since he was a junior in HS.

I still prefer the Raymell Rice comparison.

As an aside, there is only one player in NFL history with 2 runs of > 90 yards from scrimmage. Too bad his career got cut short.

As for Duke, i took heat in some other reads for saying i thought our running game this year would be as good or better than last year. I stand by those comments.

He's not slower than Clinton Portis. And, crazy to say, but I think he's got better balance. Portis was an unusually good inside runner for his size. Johnson has the same type of inside ability.

What's scary is that I'm not sure if Alex Collins is a better inside runner than Duke Johnson.

Duke is going to get faster.

He has already changed so much physically since his junior year of high school.

Lamar Miller is more Chris Johnson than Duke.

Duke reminds me of Portis and Faulk.

Note to the illiterate: This is about style and reminiscence, not about actual skill. No one is saying Duke is better than any of those guys, just his running style.

Duke has crazy vision and balance.
