duke impressing

Duke might be the best running back to ever come from the state of Florida.... that's what I think. I know that's a lot to say, but that's how highly I think of this kid's abilities. He's got something special.

The answer you're looking for is Frank Gore. Let's pump the brakes a little on the hype.

With all due respect to frank gore, the best running back ever to come from the state of florida is Emmitt Smith. He was the leading rusher in the history of fla Hs football when he left HS. And he was the leading rusher in the history of pro football when he left the nfl.

DUKE = Instant offense. By the third game we will be saying Larmar who. Duke has Miller like speed ,can see holes instantly and doe's not lose any speed during change of direction. A 1000 yards as a freshman is very obtainable if the o-line opens holes like they did for Miller last year.

I'd be happy with 500 yrds rushing and an impact on special teams (like Greg Reid)

I can also see us running some SG Twin HB sets with James and Duke in backfield.
James stays in to block... Duke and 3 WRs head downfield.

Also, do people remember how Butch used Davenport @ FB?
We'd run some PAs or passing plays where he basically ran an angle route over middle of field.
LBs bite on run and Davenport was open for days (we used this vs FSU late in game but of course he fumbled allowing Chris Weinke and co to score a BS TD)

I'd like to see us use James in this manner.

I really hope this is true, however I also really hope that majority of you don't have this expectation. It won't be good for your health the first time Duke gets popped behind the line of scrimmage.

are you saying nheisman?

Duke is every bit as good of a RB right now as Miller was with his bum shoulder last season. He's just as fast, has more wiggle, and is tougher to bring down than Miller. The only difference is experience in the playbook right now. Duke is going to tear **** up as a freshman this season.
