Duke and flowers

There's only one guy who likes Duke Johnson more than I do. That's ESF.

I really would love to hear from his "cousin" or friend who hounded me on Canestime (during Duke's Junior year) saying Duke wanted to play Corner. I told him it'd be the biggest shame to see his cousin or boy waste some of the most natural RB talent I'd ever seen.

Judging from this thread, you forgot to include the Money Man.

True. Plus, you guys are just more optimistic than I can ever be.

I used to be pretty pressimistic on recruiting, if you recall back to the canestime board.

I just trust my eyes with duke. I see him as a rare talent. A once every 5-10 years kind of kid. In cfb, not just at UM. A guy who reminds me of some of the greats i have seen.

it's not measurables, either. The kid's got some Jordan in him. When it counts, he's around the edge, through the hole, regains his balance, gets the yard, whatever it is, he makes it happen. Thats what it comes down to.

UMMM I dont know if you guys saw that Yeldon Kid at 'Bama? That kid looked like a **** senior in College already. I do think Duke is amazing, but to throw out the best in the nation is a bit high after one game. Flowers was great and so was Duke. But I dont need to go around screaming GOAT to feel good about their performances.... take it easy guys, your setting yourselves up for failure when you compare freshman to HOFer's....

You're welcome to say and think what you want. I've posted on UM boards for well over a decade, and have never written something about any player like what i've written about these two guys. If that makes you uncomfortable, so be it.

**** yeah my brother's kept saying how I wished Miami had a Yeldon on their team I went to my laptop brought up Duke's two runs showed them and said ***** please we got the best freshmen back in the nation.

I think when all is said and done, we are looking at the best RB and best OT ever to come through UM.

After 1 game u think that? (rhetorical)

I do. Not just after a game. I've thought these guys are special for a long time now. I'm not predicting the future. Just commenting on ability, and what my eyes see, and my instincts say.

ESF has been driving the Duke Johnson bandwagon. He said way back in April Duke Johnson is the best player on the team and he's probably right.

Actually, i recall writing that the moment he steps on the field, duke johnson will be the best player al golden has ever been around in his entire coching career.:D

Look at the line yeldon is running behind and look at what duke has to deal with.

Gotta build the front seven. The front four, specifically. Also need a QB.

The rest kind of comes naturally by living in South Florida.

There are a lot more guys that still have not reached their ceiling... even chick will show more flash in his JR and SR year... and we still have not seen the best of DP... even on the D-line we will improve just depends if u want to win now or later... recruit JUCO D-linemen next year to win no later than next year... recruit HS if you want to win in 2 or 3 years...

Sands,
My concerns there were way more with Flowers than Duke. I like Flowers a lot but he has a LOOOOONNNGGGGG ways to go before he even comes close to smelling McKinnies jock. Pretty sure he want more than a full yr without allowing a sack. Now Duke on the other hand looks to be elite and getting even better by the week if thats possible!

That's fair. It's totally different projecting a frosh OL vs. RB. I started this thread to link them because of what i saw in the BC game, and because those who follow recruiting know i've been very high on both. But the progression is totally different, as is the ability to project. McKinnie was a juco who played two years here, and had a great run. Flowers is a true frosh who was starting the first game of his career. I think flowers is as good an OL prospect as i've seen, but it's a long way from HS OL to the NFL. On the other hand, your comment seems excessive in the other direction to me. McKinnie did what you mention (no sacks) as a 22 y.o. Senior. I didnt say flowers = mckinnie at this point. I just said i believe he may get there.

Anyhow, as for Duke, he is special.
