Duke about to hire Manny - update: hired

Don't get the Manny hate. You could tell he really cared about this program and tried his best to make it work. It's not like he went out on bad terms like Golden and sued the school afterwards. He wasn't stubborn (like the head coaches we had before him) and tried adjusting when things weren't working. He just wasn't ready. Not saying I'm rooting for him to win the ACC but Manny is okay in my book.

His exit wasn't handled well by either Manny (he did a lot of whining if I remember correctly) or the school but otherwise I would agree. He had no business ever being hired as head coach of the University of Miami but that's not his fault.

I think he will do well there. They will have a top defense and if they can find a good OC, he will be okay. Not expecting anything big from him though 7-9 wins yearly. The guy was a first time HC here, so he was destined to fail lol. The job was too big for him. Hopefully he learned from his mistakes here and learned at Penn State. We should have no animosity towards him, but he will be a conference foe, so **** him lol

Obviously all speculation, but I kind of agree. He was adapting and growing as a coach even with us, but he was a first time coach and honestly we didn't have the time for it. But now that he has since gone on to the B10 and still carried his defensive prowess with him, I'd be curious to see how he does with another shot at being a head coach. Would not surprise me at all to see him do well.

You expect him to average more wins than Mario has gotten at Miami?

Say what you want about recruiting or anything else. Manny is objectively a better coach than Mario. Both leave much to be desired, but Manny as a brand new head coach had much better clock management and game management abilities.
I remember the exact same things under Manny as Mario does on a weekly basis.

Call timeout and then we come out and get a false start, burning 2 timeouts at the beginning of the game/half, letting 20 seconds run off then call a timeout, snapping the ball with 10-15 seconds on the playclock while trying to burn out the clock. Some of that was Rhett's offense but we still did it.

The fact that Manny was a first time HC gave him somewhat of a pass. Mario as a 13th year HC still making those mistakes is inexcusable. Still made the same mistakes and sometimes it will just always be that way.
