Tears Duck Tears

Even if it were a better job—Mario is from Miami, his wife is from Miami, his brother is a cop in Miami, his family is in Miami, he grew up in Miami, he graduated from Columbus High in Miami, he and his wife are proud Cubans from Miami, he won two national titles at Miami and Miami will always be home.

Eugene, Oregon will always be Eugene, Oregon—and a true Miamian doesn't want to be there if his dream job in his dream city opened up.

Oregon might be a "better job" for the average, everyday college coach—but Mario Cristobal is Miami, through and through. Period. Hard stop.
No One born & raised in Miami would be comfortable in Oregon.
It's the polor opposite of Miami, in weather & culture.
That being said,Mario will not coach here.
The Administration will not allow an Alpha Dog anywhere near the Athletic Dept..

Money is one of the most important things when it comes to the quality of a job. If Mario left, Oregon would go out and hire another Top coaching candidate. When they hired Willie he was a top coaching candidate. How do you know Oregon wouldn't be his 1st Choice? Oregon has been winning for awhile now, Chip Kelly completely turned that Program around and now it's a Top 15 Program in the country.
Its better to be lucky than good. Oregon despite imo the best facilities in cfb. Despite literally having the most important figure in sports as a huge booster that can write a blank check. Despite all of that has won what exactly? Has directly sought out what top coach exactly?
Oregon would be an afterthought if Emmert and his good ole boy sec friends wouldn’t have dropped the hammer on usc. Pete Carrol is literally usc’s Butch Davis and if he wouldn’t have left, Oregon would be just another PAC 12 team despite all the money that you speak of.
Mario would be way more happier here at home with the recruiting base we have and the tax savings. Just like many say Fickel ain’t leaving to anywhere that isn’t Ohio state. Cause it’s home.
We get rid of Blake and hire zo than imo Mario is ours. But I just don’t see our bot do that.

Mario isn't really struggling to recruit now though. He's getting Recruits from all around the country

Wondering if people would argue that UCF was a better job than Nebraska when Frost left. Obvious differences exist but there are also some parallels with our situation, no?

Any program that shows life and beats a team like Ohio state at home is gonna get recruits.
But they have a huge presence in the IE and it’s a big reason why flowe went there. They are literally usc north with the players they’ve recruited and it’s their base just like sofla was a base for us and it snowballed form there. If a miracle happens and mario gets hired in the next 2-3 weeks you will literally hear panic and smell toilet bowls full of scared ****less fans of sec teams and the other 2 Florida schools.
If anybody doesn’t believe that then idk what to tell you. But he ain’t coming without the revamp of the athletic department.

I would argue that as well. But again that was his home and he still had memories of what they were. Right now Cincinnati is the closest thing to home for their coach. Nebraska just isn’t a **** program. It worked in the past but isn’t gonna work anymore. Even when Oregon was going down hill after Kelly they still enticed kids with the modern facilities and uniforms. Somehow they managed to get kids to forget about Eugene just like Clemson gave dudes amnesia about that place.
Oregon’s plan was methodical in the IE and the rest of the west. Nebraska tried to come down here and do the same in sofla and it backfired. If the political climate and covid don’t happen maybe frost could’ve had some traction. But he should’ve just gone to Texas instead of coming down here.
There is a reason why we are the only program in modern football to win multiple championships with different coaches. There is too much talent and when you win everybody wants to play here. I just can’t see Nebraska being a pull to players nationwide unless something miraculous happens in that campus.
So yeah imo ucf right now is likely a better place to coach and recruit than a bunch of p5 programs.

But we are in a better position right now than ucf in terms of roster and recruiting class and footprint.

But think about that same scenario in 2 years if we keep the same AD/coaches and ucf losses 2 game in 2 years beats some p5 teams in bowl games and the sec or Acc ask them to join? UCF will totally spend the money to give Malzahn what he wants.

Oregon is a better job across the board... Talk your fan glasses off and think what we offer that Oregon doesn't?

Oregon has better administration that actually cares about their football program.
More Money
State of the art facilities
Better culture
Winning environment
Own stadium

And please don't bring up the we have South Florida talent argument... That's gotten us nowhere in 15 years and Oregon has California talent. Until this place has a clean sweep from the top to the bottom it's going to be the same ol same ol.
we are his home. thats more than enough to lure him away.

theres a bunch of places objectively better than the village i live in. i still wanna live in my village tho

Mario is not accepting the Miami job in the next few weeks. He's got Oregon #3 in the rankings, 3-0, and will be favored in every PAC12 game. Win the PAC12 title undefeated and the Ducks are in CFP. Who knows what happens then.

He may well return home under the right price and conditions but not during the season.

We'll have to wait.

Curious- are you an UM alumnus? It's an interesting thing- I tend to see the "Oregon is a better job and Mario will never leave" from non-alum. Many of us who are alumni understand the draw of coming back to UM, even if the school doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a program like Oregon.

It's kind of like explaining to a non-military person why someone would join the Marines over the Air Force. Everyone knows the AF has more money, you will be treated a million times better, you'll sleep in hotels instead of tents, comparatively easy fitness tests, bases are going to be far nicer. Yet there are some of us who were drawn to the more difficult and less comfortable branch of service because it is a small fraternity; hen you meet another Marine you both know you are playing a part of the storied history of the USMC. I've been in both branches of service, and I can tell firsthand that when some old timer mentions they used to be in the air force, a young airman will say "that's cool" and that will be the end of that. If an old timer says he was a Marine, the young Marines will want to hear his war stories. It's just a different mindset.

Great question.

Does this make Oregon less interested in trying to retain him? Maybe, would depend what they had to match. Doubt it though.

Does this make Miami less interested in trying to hire him, and look elsewhere? Doubt it, the impression is Mario may not be the prefect coach, but is the perfect coach for Miami.

Does this make CIS Mario detractors lose their mind if he is hired away from Oregon? YES!!

I don't know what he'll do.. but it's not a no brainer like some make it.

Looks like our tailgates 🔥

Stadium isn’t a factor to Mario most likely considering he won two rings for a program that doesn’t have its own stadium
