Draft

Ton of Florida kids going in the first half of round 2 as well. None from the U. It's sad to see. We have the greatest talent pool around but refuse to tap into that resource bc we want to be Wake Forest and not the U.

Miami denied admissions to all those players?

Miami hires coaches based on who will graduate most players, not who can develop kids for the NFL. Miami has zero interest in being an elite program, and is happier to be a mediocre basketball school with good grades.

Of course. I think Shalala actually had HR put that in the job description and an absolute requirement for the job. Board of Trustees put that in Shalala's job description too.

Do you really think this school cares about being an elite program anymore? What exactly have they done in the last 15 years to make you think that?

What was the name of the school president from 1981-2001 that loved the football program?

During that time the school paid for highly qualified football men to run their program, and didn't ask those coaches to babysit kids in class. Stop perpetuating the myth that bc Tad Foote didn't like the negative press that it meant the university wasn't interested in winning. They were. So interested that they went out and bought a Super Bowl champ OC who had been an NFL head coach to build the thing.

You Donna lovers and Foote haters kill me. I don't care what they say about the program; clearly foote allowed this school to pursue football excellence where Shalala has shown NO INTEREST.

I think she has interest, I just think she is trying to hard to be politically correct in doing it. Any president loves it when they get all kinds of attention, donations, etc when their program is winning. I dont think that Buffalo has better player development, I think that in particular player worked harder than SH has ever even thought of working. We used to have teams full of guys with that chip, that drive, now we only have one or two on the whole **** roster. I think AG is trying to identify kids like that and get them in here. However, he is also trying to get the studs in here, and keep local coaches happy etc... I think its such a **** show in sofla recruiting that its actually easier to sell a kid out of the area then it is to keep them home. Especially, with how bad we have been in the last decade....

Lol at some of the bs assumptions in this thread. Don't mistake poor decisions for what someone's desired outcome is.

Yes Shalala has shown no interest in the football program other than basically putting her entire reputation and the reputation of the University on the line in a head to head showdown with the NCAA.

Yup, no interest at all.

thats why we recruited griffin, gray, angelo jean louis, leggett???? you are talking like UM admissions is extremely hard to get into for athletes

yea they dont care thats why they built a new athletic center, which ive been into and its very very nice, granted it was built a little too late but they did it none the less, but yea they dont care

Devonta "503" Freeman just got drafted by the Falcons in the 4th. Live shot from Miramar of him getting picked. And who was standing over his shoulder grinning from ear to ear? You guessed it...Uncle Luke.

Is it making anyone else angry how many of these draftees highlights are against Miami? 31,22,30 getting a lot of airtime.....:ohlord:

Dam is this true? Just heard that Shannon is the first coach with 4 years as HC since Jack Harding in the 30's to not have a player recruited under his watch to go in the first round.

Why would this be shocking? The man was the worst HC we have ever had and was probably learning disabled.

Pat O'Donnell drafted ahead of Henderson and Hurns?

first kicker drafted...finally another Hurricane.

Punter U!!!

This is an awful lot of ignorance for one post. UM does not have the money that some state schools do, this is true. Our admissions are slightly harder than Marshall, this is true (but we make exceptions -- if Gray doesn't make it in at UM, he will not make it in anywhere). Just because Shalala has improved academics reputation and our football team has sucked, does not mean she is not invested in the football program. And yes, as someone else mentioned, she went out of her way to make sure that the football program did not get railroaded by the NCAA-- not every university president would have done that and been as vocal about it as she was.

BTW, Calling jimmy Johnson highly qualified would have been a stretch at the time. He hardly set the world on fire at Arkansas State
