if we bring in a new DC it is likely that it would signal a new defensive philosophy and scheme and that AG was basically gonna be relatively hands off and play mostly a CEO role. unless he hired someone under the same defensive coaching tree, but in that case I dont really see anything to be excited about since it would be a new guy running the same scheme

The Philadephia Inquirer, OwlScoop.com (Rivals) and CBSSports.com reported (citing unnamed sources) that Miami Hurricanes defensive coordinator Mark D'Onofrio already interviewed for the head-coaching vacancy left by Steve Addazio.

Per the Temple site so has;
1. Mike MacIntyre (San Jose State, H.C.)
2. Matt Rhule
3. Chuck Heater
4. Stan Drayton (Ohio State, RB Coach)
5. Mario Cristobal (FL Intn'l, former H.C.)
6. Todd Bowles (NFL Eagles, D.C.
7. Dave Clawson (Bowling Green, H.C.)
8. Bob Diaco (Notre Dame, D.C.)
This. You never want to be seen as potentially holding someone back in the coaching community. It could discourage future up-and-coming coaches from signing on.I have a hard time believing Golden is endorsing DonofFreo to Temple. It his his most important defensive recruiting class since his arrival. Continuity is key. No one wants to have uncertainty at the coordinator level in the last three months until NSD.
If Golden thinks now is a good time for Coach D to become a head coach, he would most likely not be selfish and try to keep him. I would expect this of most coaches, never mind when the coaches are best friends.
What if Golden is sending him there to leave and then he leaves for Wisconsin? Knowing he cant take D there.

If they get on a list, you encourage them. You don't call up your old school and offer up your DC. Al should not give a flying rat's balls about what happens at Temple.
I'm actually fairly neutral on D'Onofrio. I don't think he's had much to work with so it's difficult to judge him objectively, but on the other hand, our defense was absolutely horrific this year so I can understand why some are ready to pack his bags and drive him to the airport. The one thing I do like about him is that our defense does seem to be more "physical" than it has been for quite some time. I'm seeing fewer arm tackles and more solid contact out of our defense although admittedly that's a pretty subjective statement. Ultimately if he stays I won't be p*ssed but if he leaves I won't be broken up about it either.Anyone else besides me want D'Onofrio here next year?
I think with another year of growth for our young team, and a third year of coaching continuity, we'll see a lot of improvement.

There were some games where our tackling was HORRIFIC! Are you sure you were watching the 2012 Miami Hurricanes?

Great coach, Colorado nabbed him.
I'll play along. If Coach D does take this job, then Jim Leavitt is the LBs coach at SF 49ers. Dude ****es defensive excellence and is as fiery as they come! Going up to the pros and being part of the 49ers staff also is a big plus. Before any of you mention that he choked a kid while at USF, and UM wouldnt touch him, that was never proven or substantiated.
Good to see ya here Latin. Jump any rails lately?
There's a lot of smoke here fellas... It's looking like Coach D could definitely be gone (which could in fact be a good thing for us)
