This not meant to knock or bring hate down on our coaches. Just some insight for people who are curious about what our defense "may" look like in the future. These stats are 99.9% accurate and I pulled them all off NCAA.org
EDIT: SCORING defense is ranked 25th @ 20.6 PPG. My bad for the miscommunication. I originally put the scoring O.
Va: Not much improvement over a 6 year stretch. AG's defense averaged 391 YPG during his tenure as DC. His best year, the defense averaged 313 YPG and had the best scoring defense at 17ppg with a national rank of 17. One common trend was that the scoring defense averaged 22.3ppg during his tenure, which isnt bad but not great either.
Temple:
Obviously recruiting and ncaa scholarship limits played a huge role as well as temple being a doormat for life. By the end of year 5 everything dramatically had changed for the better(see above image) Scoring D was 16th in the land and allowed only 19 ppg.
Miami:
The only concern of mine and the many I speak with is the YPG and rushing yards given up. AGs defenses has never held opponents under 300 YPG for a season! Also he has never had a defense hold opponents under 100 rushing YPG! These are two vital components to being an elite team. It is a solid concern but I also think AG can crack those while being at Miami. There is obviously a bit of a learning curve coming from Temple and I think over time he will get it right. It may sound crazy, but AG is basically in the same boat as he was at Temple. NCAA mess at both schools and horrible rosters and depth. BTW just for good measure go look at this roster and compare it to ours... http://www.seminoles.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/fsu-m-footbl-mtt.html http://www.hurricanesports.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=28700&SPID=103763&SPSID=658368
Unfortunately we are not "back" yet like we ridiculously want to be, but we will soon enough.
