Donnell Bennett

Not sure if it was ever confirmed, but alot of people thought Stephen Field was footballcane over on Grassy.

Either way, I'm not worried about Field at MNW. He is an ally.

Wasn't footballcane a coach up in Jacksonville? Fields comes from Hampton.

I really don't know. Most of the speculation I read back then was Field. Probably just because he was a GA at The U and footballcane had the goods when it came to info. It's probably a good chance it wasn't him but either way Field was a Cane so I'm not worried. He's probably the reason why Luke is allowed at our Pro Day if I had to guess.

Former Northeast High Coach and @proCanes RB Donnell Bennett is a top candidate to fill Hurlie Brown's Operations position at The U

According to a source close to the situation, Bennett would "love to work at his alma mater and is praying he gets the gig."

Hmmmm maybe Donnell is returning home

If he already resigned, then I'm pretty sure he had something else lined up. You generally don't quit a gig on the hope of getting another.

Would love to have Bennett on board, one of my all time favorites. **** he should be on board for delivering Coley.

Ole' Ricky Jean. Smh. ****. Those were some horrible times too. We were missing out on Dade kids left and right because of grades. (Butch predicted that this would happen to us before he left.) Ali Highsmith, Dwayne Bowe, RJF..Kids who should have been Canes but went to the Bayou. We can't have an era like that again. Anyway, that Carol City defense in 04' with WW, RJF, Kenny Phillips, and Vernon Wilder (?) was probably the best defense in the history of South Florida.

I don't think it was a coincidence the ole Coach Coley went from Central to LSU with Dwayne Bowe

I remember that...he said it at a couple of camps, basically asking the local coaches to focus on academics.

Right, my bad. Point still applies.

Especially Walt. I don't think we missed out on a Carol City kid we wanted during his era. That old timer batted 1.000 **** near.

What happened with Ricky Jean Francois? I don't recall

Horrific grades situation. We wanted him but couldn't get him in.

Randy didn't like Francois. People blamed grades, but we took Richard Gordon that same year, IIRC, and RJF actually got into college, while Gordon was a non-qualifier, and a part-time DE at that. Some thought RJF was too frail. Maybe there was WW fall-out at CC. Whatever it was, I don't think it was really grades.

Grades were often used as an excuse back then. All those kids qualified at D1 schools, IIRC. And we took kids who didn't, right through that period. Bowe was rumored to be a $ issue. Highsmith maybe was a kid UM admissions screwed over. RJF I commented on below -- IMO that was a Randy call, not a grade issue.
