Indeed...you really do have to be careful what you wish for. How would his leaving affect the decisions of the defensive players we are recruiting who we are currently saying are so vital to the success of our defense next season and going forward? I realize we were 118th this past season, but I thought most here felt that had everything to do with being young and poor recruiting at key positions by the previous regime. I favor having stability both with our roster and our staff. If we're 118th next season then I think replacing Coach D would be much less of a knee jerk reaction and based on a larger body of compelling evidence.

Don't mess with the stability we have right now in coaching. Let this thing play out for one more year.

This. But more importantly, if the defense fails to make major improvements next year there will be those who echoe we are learning a new system, particularly if Big Al goes outside for a new DC. I don't want to hear any excuses next year. I'm all for coach D staying and improving the task at hand for at least another year.

I'm as ticked as every thinking Cane that our defense was abysmal this season. However, this same coach who this past season led us to the bottom tier of the defensive hierarchy coached a Temple squad that was 12th in the nation in total defense in 2010. As to the excuses, I could be way off base, but I think the reason they stuck with their system even without the right pieces is exactly because they wanted the guys to know it inside and out so that next season we are able to make a big leap. If not, everyone knows my sentiments.

I still can't believe our youth and talent were so bad to have us be the 118th ranked defense in the nation. Just can't see it.

If he diddnt take it the first time he wont this time.

This. The temple ship sailed. They won't offer him it and he is stuck here until either he is canned or improves the defense significantly. He's got his eyes set on bigger and better things down the road.

He'll be lucky to get a job as a position coach if the defense doesn't get any better next year.
