Donell Bennett

Wouldn't surprise me at all that some fsu scumbag piece of **** fired him. I found it very odd that he quit his gig without having another one already in place. Didn't make sense from the beginning, and I questioned it on here.

If the dude fell on his sword for UM, then he died a hero. Alshermond needs to bring him in in some capacity. You can't let heroes like that go hungry.

That's the thing, the Principal of Northeast high is an FSU Alum and was apparently decked out in FSU gear for Coley's announcement. Now an FSU alum is the new coach. I am not the one to Gossip, but something smells fishy here.

I would love to see that pic...

I totally agree. At first some said that he was going to be hired by UM, but when that didn't materialize, I knew something was up.

I think Northeast just hired former fsu WR Tez McCorvery to replace Bennett too

Recruiting is serious business.

Also, if this is true (on why he was fired) then Bennett might have a wrongful termination lawsuit.

You're joking, right? Coaching is a supplemental position that is renewable every year. If the principal wants to hire someone else and let you go because he's an FSU fan, because he doesn't like your new Jeep, or because he saw you take the last piece of chocolate cake at the banquet, he can do it. You just can't base a firing on a discriminatory reason. And last I checked, being a Miami alum doesn't place you in a protected group.

Wrongful termination. LMAO.

People were saying UM was going to hire him, but the first thing I axed was, "Why quit your current gig BEFORE you get another one?". Didn't make sense. I hope someone in the media blows that fsu shyster scumbag principal without principles up.

I think Joe Rose put it out there. Highly doubt any of the local media put any effort into it though

Yeah, but it could be a problem, politically, for the School Board and the principal if there is anything to this rumor. Unfortunately, there may not be enough of a UM base to really make it an issue, but it could cause some embarrassment, etc.

did he get a W2? was he getting a weekly paycheck from the school? was he a full time employee? ok... he CAN claim wrongful termination because the principal didn't like his jeep or because he ate the last cookie! are you making up labor law or just trying to pretend your smart?

I think coaching in Briward is like a part time gig... It's close volunteering I believe unless you're at a private school... Wildcat an I correct? Was he relieved of his duties as a teacher as well? If not he can't file a lawsuit... This rumor is so hard to prove.

This has to be a joke. Coaching high school football in Florida is not a full time job. There is no multi-year contract to violate. It is renewable every year at the discretion of the principal. There is zero debate over this. Unless the reason is discriminatory, the case is over.

And if you're going to challenge someone's knowledge, don't chime in with the phrase "....just trying to pretend your smart". That makes you a first class idiot.

LOL so you went through my statement and found my use of "you're" vs "your" on an internet forum and came to the conclusion that makes me a FIRST class idiot.

If a principal of a high school is pro a specific college or university in recruiting, and they fire full time employees because a recruit went to another school, you do have a wrongful termination case. Now, before you start to spit bs about how this happens every day and nobody does anything.. that does not mean there isn't a case here.

If they fire you because they manufactured a cause, it is defamation. For example (Bennett was fired because he was a bad coach, but the real reason was Coleys pick of Miami) Bennett can sue the school & the school board for defamation.

SO, no.. my comment is not a joke and my use of your vs you're on a forum in case insight does not depict my intelligence. Frankly my english/grammar skills I would say are average or even lower me being an immigrant and all, but I employes 122 individuals across the country and I know a thing or two about wrongful termination.

I am going to stop responding to this thread because you are simply a waste of time.

How many of those employees are supplemental high school coaches? You know absolutely nothing about this topic. I have been the coach and I have hired and fired coaches. I have been through every letter of every collective bargaining agreement with a fine-toothed comb. A high school coaching position expires EVERY YEAR. You don't fire a high school coach, you just don't renew his contract for the next season. You don't have to give him or anyone else a reason why. And if it's because the boss went to FSU, tough f'ing luck. A high school coach does not have the RIGHT to be renewed.

You might have your finger on corporate law termination issues, but you are an amateur on this topic.

Oh, and the reason you are going to stop responding is because you're tired of having your screen name embarrassed. Good call.
