Does Morris have a Jacory Problem?

Something I've noticed in the first two games about Stephen Morris is that he has been trying to force the deep ball throws to Dorsett even with blanket coverage.
This is very Jacory like. He needs to learn to take the underneath throws which there was a couple against UF. He doesn't go through his progressions either but rather locks onto a receiver. Has anyone else noticed this tendency?

Negged!!! We threw 1 deep ball against UF & it was for a TD. The int was on an overthrow & I'm not so sure Dorsett didn't run a wrong route.

I call it the FSU Chuck it up and pray... That's got to be a coley thing, Morris didn't do that as often as I've seen it this year, last year

He always looks frozen, Mummy like, eyes the size of grapefruits.

I do think running him out to his left works great! :ohlord:

He overthrew the **** out of Dorsett on that play. I'm currently rewatching the game and that play just took place. Phil set in the open space in the zone and Stephon airmailed it pretty badly!!! He did force a couple balls deep tho, two of which were almost picked off.

If you go back and re watch the play the ball was tipped at the line of scrimmage.

I think he looks like the same guy he looked like last year. He's wildly erratic like he was last year. Capable of phenomenal throws like the Walford TD against fau and then capable of hitting a defender right between the numbers on the next pass. He disappears for a quarter or two at a time like last year where he can't even hit wide open receivers.

It wasn't just the UF Game there was a couple in the FAU game too. One occurred on a fly route where Dorsett went out of bounds and had to come back in and play defender to prevent an INT. Another was a fade route to Hurns where he was completely covered. I'm not talking about the overthrow in the UF game either, which in itself was terrible.

There were other throws too.

no.

Agree,he's the same QB we saw last year. He'll put up great stats against bad defenses and struggle against teams teams with speed.I still can't see why many of our fans were hyping him as a first round type talent.

It's not only our fans who hyped him. Everyone in the media including high-profile former scouts and knowledgeable football guys like Mayock were doing the same. I still think he'll have a good season, but he's apparently going to be up and down just like last year.

This. In the Gata game, he decided to take off the last three quarters, which is bad, as he usually just took off 2 quarters in the past.

He ripped apart one awful ACC defense last year, NCSU, and had 2 good quarters against GT.. Took 2 quarters off against GT, took the whole game off against UNC, VT and FSU. (we should have been up by 4tds against VT at half)

I'm confident Coley gets the O and Morris going, though.
